I'm now level 400 and just wanted to learn how to strafe while aiming. I see that strafing mid fight is the only skill that I lack since after 4400 levels I just went with the normal controls. So what's your button layout? I tried watching youtube videos and they said button puncher. I tried it and clicking the right stick (R3) and aiming at the same time is hard! For now I'm in customized having my crouch as L1, O as ping, and R1 as my tactical. 2 days in and I'm still struggling with my controls as if my fingers have a mind of their own. lol.Share some tips! @Cheese9Man I struggle to remember to hip fire close in. To me that really is the key to moving while shooting.

@Cheese9Man Are you ADS or hip firing?For me, I hip fire and strafe. But I'm more of a spam crouch than a strafer. It depends on the range as to what my movement is. If I'm sniping or in mid range I just rotate the movement thumb stick in a circle. It typically gives you enough movement to avoid shots but not so much you miss shots. It definitely takes some practice. Now better snipers or mid range players will have no issue hitting you. If you run into that try peak a shoot. basically peak sort of line up your sights where the target is.. hide then peak up again take a shot.. This one takes practice as well but when it starts to click you'll see what I mean.In close combat I simply hip fire, it will take some trial and error to learn what range hip fire is effective at. I just recently changed how I do this all though. Sort of a combination of strafing, crouch spam and I toggle between hip fire ADS. If I'm reloading then I throw all kinds of movement into it, jump, slide, what ever to make them miss shots.. Some guns are not worth hip firing, Mastiff, Moz I will never hip fire. Those are guns you have to be accurate with and definitely more of a peak a boom weapon.If you need to work on it a good starting point is the firing range with the dummies on. You'll still need practice in game because the dummies have 0 movement. but it will give you a starting point.

@Cheese9ManMaybe go back to the classic controls? I have FOV at 110 on xbox. If you're struggling to aim with your sensitivity at 5 and ADS at 4 perhaps turn the sensitivity down to 4? See if that helps, I can not have different settings sensitivity and ADS. They both have to be the same for me and consistent. If you're still spinning in circles or having a hard time staying on target at 4 go down to 3. There is no point in having high ADS/sensitivity if you can't land shots. Now I will say at 3 sensitivity you will have to hip fire in close combat. You will NOT be able to track legends at that speed. Basically they will move faster then you can track on the 3 setting but in hip fire you'll have no issue.My controls look like this sensitivity is 3 ADS is 3, per optic ADS 1-3x are all set 3, optics with a 4x is 4, 6x-10x optic are set to 5.If button layout is an issue look at the different settings and change it to one you like.But don't do what I say, do what feels good for you and works for you. Just play with the settings in the firing range until you find something that feels right. Then go play a round see how it goes. I would take a screen shot of your settings before you change any. If you don't like the changes you make, you have the screen shot as a reference to go back to.

If you can't strafe and aim too great, utilise peaking instead.Failing that just practice in the firing range for a while until that feels comfy and take it into the game from there.As for the crouch spammers, for the truly high speed spam I don't think these players are using r3 as crouch...probably a separate button, or they're using paddles. Its an awkward thing to do with r3 as crouch.

@Cheese9ManI was going to give the answer in a long boring story but I decided to give you the short answerGet a controller with paddles, am using Astro A40 but there is alot of other options .That's for the crouch spamming , for strafing you just need to train everyday but with back paddles you will get the crouch and strafing combination which can be very very effective 🙂

@hayhorSpend time in Firing Range, & hip fire ONLY. Hip-fire at the dummies at ANY range, to practice constantly having your crosshairs perfectly situated over the target. I mostly use Volt & R9. Overall, this helps quite a bit in the long run. Get familiar with how viable the hip-fire of your favorite / most commonly used guns are, at close/mid range. You'll instinctively resort to hip fire in-game, after practicing enough

It also helps quite a bit to turn ON the Bots (so they move, & shoot back at you).

Also L3 crouch spam is goated on controller. L3 for crouch/slide, crouch on HOLD, auto sprint ON. That + practice will 100% improve your crouch spam fire

@decimation92 I'll give it a go. I even thought about playing with randoms with the rule where I only hip fire no matter what the distance.

@Cheese9Man My layout is pretty much totally custom. For crouch though, it's bound to L3, That way I can move and Crouch/slide with the same stick/finger. As for better strafing, learn to hip fire more. ADS-ing severely reduces your movement speed in that regard.

@MandatoryIDtag Yeah. people need to remember that almost every weapon in this game is projectile, which makes peaking and firing a very optimal approach.

@decimation92 I don't know if I really agree with auto sprint ON. I see why you do it. But auto sprint delays your shoots/you being able to fire your gun, so it'll mess with your reaction time, in a gun fight. I suppose, you would get used to it after a while, but I never stuck with it long enough for that to happen. I tried utilizing the setting multiple times, but just could never really make it work for me. It made everything feel a little more clunky and I didn't like that. Again, this is just my experience with it.
