To be fair I think these days it is much easier to hack.
Way back when I started:
- there was no tiktok and stuff so only way you could find out about available hacks was via some forums or chat groups (back in the day mirc or msn)
- after you got the info that hacks are a thing you had to get them somewhere and there were not like 1000 different versions and most of them were detectable so it was kinda your own risk and risk was high
- servers (in Quake) were running 24/7, some people had admin rights, some were able to run matches via automated commands like start/pause/restart game. Yet server kept all kicks/bans done by anti-cheat so your IP and nickname instantly got into ban-list even if noone saw it. And only people who could remove them from the list were admins who usually were really good people, proven by time and had really anti-hack personality
- all people could do is to reset their ip if their ISP provided such option which was rather rare
These days speed in which info exchange is done and number of hacks available and packages - walls, radars, aimbots, recoil cancelling, HWID spoofers etc. - are just insane. You just need to bring money and done.
Also back in the days at least in my country people (kids / highschool) had like at best 50$ per month for basically everything. So we could not even dream about buying hacks. These days spoiled losers get 50$ per day or at least per week so pocket change for them to buy lifetime subscription.
I assume if 2FA or similar thing will be added hacker companies would just add e-sim or 2FA bypass to the package and just charge extra 10$.
As for Respawn...it is just sad that they can't implement at least similarly crapy but operational AI as say Titan hacks have (based on Zeus YT videos) or gather and flags metrics like amazingly fast flicks on targets time after time say 10-15 times per game, or insane accuracy game after game and so on. I am quite sure it should all be trackable but companies are just lazy.
Same in Valorant - dude goes for 60% HS rate, top frags 2x-3x more than 2nd place, then drops a few games below 1 k/d and 10% HS, then goes back to 40+% HS rate and Riot says that's all good :D
Big companies are either stupid or just covering for hackers for profits. Can't be anything in between. I would make no sense that multi million dollar companies can't apprehend some garage hack builders with pre-built template sites that all are like and done for like 200$
