@EA-Team: Nickname-limitations (EA-profile)

Hi Apex-community,

Hi EA-Community Managers,

since the Club-Tags are gone for several weeks now (which I used to promote my tiny Youtube-channel) I thought about changing my nickname directly on the EA Homepage.

I noticed that the possibilities to make changes are clearly limited.

F.e you are not allowed to use "|", "_" or brackets to put abbreviations in front of your nick (like TTV or YT in my case).

Even using blanks seems prohibited.

I´d highly recommend to change that so that at least blanks (since all of the named special characters) are allowed on Steam.

If Steam can do it, it shouldn´t be called "prohibited" on the EA webpage. It just makes no sense.

Regards!

  • I'd assume this isn't allowed due to well, technical limitations related to the database.

    Whilst yes, it's not really an excuse anymore since it's technically possible, they're typically disabled with a reason.

    @XHelperZ

    I like your last sentence. :D
    They (EA) just can´t explain it with "individuality of nicknames" when Steam does allow players to use special characters in their nicks.
    Senseless...

    And @BigMac

    I usually try to avoid a nickname-overload. This doesn´t look too good in my eyes (and I´m also not sure if @ isn´t forbidden as well).

    To be fair, a bit ago Steam saw a big exploit regarding names, so it technically works against them too.

    Also do note that Steam also has more of a social side to it, including a community space that hosts discussions but also workshop content.

    EA pretty much has these forums and just the friends list as far I'm aware, so I wouldn't see a need for them to have more characters to allow more individualisation.
