EA/Respawn needs to improve the single player experience

With the player count dropping we are getting fewer and fewer people playing this game as intended - playing in a squad with two friends communicating via mike.

I've very rarely played in a squad and generally don't enjoy the experience as none of my friends are gamers, so I've been a solo Q player for the past five years.

The solo experience is just getting worse and worse. It used to be that one game in three was a good one but now it's about one in ten. Without comms as soon as you hit a comms squad you're dead. I seldom get backup and I think because of my experience (over 23,000 games) I get put with newbs more often than not.

When it works, this game still rocks. I got put with a fab Loba yesterday and even though our Valk was AFK after first knock, we still had a great game together without comms. We ended up with 15 kills and 3,500 damage between us and I killed the last squad with two kraber headshots. But, as soon as the game ended, I switched it off as I knew the next nine games would be frustrating.

TL;DR With the player base diminishing the solo Q player experience needs to improve.

  • Solo queue is an absolute nightmare and has been for seasons.  They aren't gonna do anything about it either.

  • Like you, solo since day one. And yes, the experience has deteriorated. But if I'm honest it was never very good to begin with. This game was designed, for the worse, to be played by a communicating team. If you can't or won't be one of them, then you're one of us, and I'm not really sure what the dev could do to change that experience. Solo mode was no answer, imo. Bot Royale is a step in the right direction, but it's far from perfect, and for a lot of players would not be considered a viable solution. They'll never build a single player campaign mode, and I don't think that would be much of an answer either. The only answer I can come up with is the same one I've been riding them about for three years now, and I'll say it again here because it bears repeating:

They need to stop matching on skill (which, as you noted, they don't really do anyway) and start matching squads based on play style and match goals. Not sure if you could get a lot of solo-hot-drop-n-quits to self report that information honestly. But you might. And the quality of matches would improve a thousandfold. Imo.

  • Need to match solos with and against other solos. Three stacks should have their own separate que.
