1. Hiring more people is expensive. Sweet recommend to distribute that authorithy to responsible streamers, much cheaper and more efficient. Of course there's a risk of bias and abuse of power. Well, you need police supervisor (hideout) to check their work.
2. Detect DDOS is easy since it's happening in front of your face and bad guy most likely inside the lobby himself.
Catching greedy cheater one is easy since he got the most RP during the attack.
Stopping future DDOS is much harder since attacker is smart one, this will be long battle.
3. Investigating ways to more quickly catch and remove cheaters from games.
- If remove from rank, that's easy. 1st is increase the rank requirement for each level , the higher the rank, the higher level require.
Then remove ability to bunny hopping by using your team mate to shortcut to higher rank. Bronze cannot team with diamond/master to join predator lobby.
- Since every bullet already tracked by server, all abnormal bullet is cheating. bullet that bend or acting like torpedo.
- Since every gun has own characteristic, all abnormal gun behaviour is cheating such as gun that tracking the enemy head.
- etc

@asukojoI do not trust streamers to uphold a healthy system. They die to someone even if by accident a lot already yell cheaters. Nor do big streamers have the time to do that type of work with them playing 12 hours a day so that is already flawed. People who would help with this would need 12 hours a day assisting with the actual issue. Not when they get bored and wanna do it.
The program could work for people to help with this issue but I dont feel streamers are the way to go about it. That is just giving them more clout then they need. I personally would not want my fate in the hands of some streamer who is salty he got melted. We are talking about lets say maybe 50 top streamers who have a major viewing who could possibly be trusted for such a task. 50 people out of a possible 50m + playing players. With that being said they would not even scratch the surface which i can see they actually need not think through. I dont think people understand the magnitude of this type of work.
- 5 years ago@asukojo Streamers as anti cheat authority is a pretty bad idea. Not only that they are strongly biased, but they also don't have enough available time to do proper police work (as it means sacrificing the majority of their play time), they lack developer knowledge (tools, methods, coding, etiquette, etc.) and they are vulnerable (a lot of them had their accounts hacked, their connection killed, etc.). It would be pretty easy to have anti cheat stuff fall into the hands of hackers with all these insecure points.
The fight against DoS and DDoS did not start with Apex, it's been going on for decades. Respawn had this fight going on since Titanfall and there are rumors it might be some of their former colleagues that exposed some vulnerabilities or vital info, probably regarding their engine.
Also, these type of attacks aren't that easy to spot. Thousands of players connecting at the same moment can resemble an attack, so if they make the system more sensitive, it would result in a lot of players not being able to play during peak times. Another things about these attacks is that they don't always need to be targeted at the game's servers to do damage. AWS is dealing with some of the biggest attacks pretty often.- 5 years ago
Ive had this argument in other forums regarding other games.
ive been told to report to PUBG shield, hideouts in apex..............
Does anyone see the insanity of this?
The onus of anti cheat slips away from the developer into the public domain (often free work).
The devs must laugh all the way to the bank..... Its THEIR game, cheating is THEIR problem, its not my problem to have to waste time recording cheats, going through the effort of sending it.
This is a globally systemic problem and its certainly NOT down to individual players, streamers or content creators to fix or even help reduce.
I wonder how much investment EA has in pushing out constant new content for you to fill their coffers up with compared to something that ACTUALLY urgently needs addressing like cheating.........
You know what, forget it, keep buying new skins to dress up your dollies, EA needs your money people!
- 5 years ago@pandareno1999 That’s great. Kinda sad though that popular streamers would have to protest on twitter before they release any statement on the issue. It has been a year already that people were saying Hideouts can’t do it alone.
- Lord_Scorpion345 years agoLegend@pandareno1999 As cool as that sounds, the game has been out for 2 freakin years! They've made BILLIONS off this game yet they have had ONE GUY handling cheaters this whole time!? I'd call that mismanagement.
