@pastaclown There is probably a middle ground here. I've seen a lot of employees leave the company I am at with crazy views on what is going on.
Many of us went from in the office every day to work from home. Some adapted well but others did not. I know personally I have liked some of it but as the guy said, it is almost impossible to separate home and work now. This is even harder if you have a family, especially little ones and your spouse works.
I cannot speculate on how respawn handled the change but yes, there has to be some understanding from the company that employees have new challenges and stress during this time.

There's also a fair amount of decent discussion on the challenges of the WFH transition in this and other industries.
@apostolateofDOOM on point 4, I'd suspect you see trickery where none exists. I've personally experienced a lot of the good stuff mentioned around supporting the WFH transition.
