So I don't play on PC, and would like to ask if this complete lack of recoil on a gun as jittery as the burst-mode Prowler is normal in PC gaming, or if it's via the utilisation of a script of some sort (as almost everyone is cheating now). I'm aware that recoil control is a thing, but nobody on the planet can recoil control a burst prowler to the point of ZERO vertical movement, every time. It isn't possible, that's not up for debate.
So anyway, if it is a script/anti-recoil mod etc - Naturally this (and you) should be banned.
Or if it genuinely isn't, and you're just a rare good player: then I'd like to direct everyone who claims that "M&K on console isn't cheating" here to see this video, and try and emulate this anti-recoil using a normal controller, and then try and claim that M&K isn't cheating. Not only do you get this apparent control with a mouse, but because they're connected via third party (against ToS) tools, the console assumes you're using a controller and also gives you aim assist, with a f-ing mouse.
Console is plagued with M&K anti-recoil cancer. Help put a stop to it.
@littlxr but it does have recoil and I don't use any recoil control for Prowler. You aim low and if it kicks up then you may get a lucky headshot out of it. If I use a Havoc then I keep the mouse at the top edge of the mouse pad, so I can keep pulling the mouse down a lot, but with a Prowler none of that is necessary. Just keep your aim dead center on the enemy, so the shots that kick up could still hit something. That only works close range though, because, if you look at the longer range shots, I only hit like one bullet per burst and have to run closer.
EDIT: By the way, I am using a 110 FOV, so if you're used to using a low FOV then it may seem like the enemies are further away than they actually are and that can make the shots appear more impressive when there's really nothing special to it. Also, I had a purple mag prowler, which can do 7 bursts of 75 damage to just the body alone, so I can miss most of my shots and still do 200 damage.

Loved it when you swapped your evo shield for a white one. I never think of things like that.
I can never use the G7 or Prowler either. I'm trash with both of them.
I did get 25 kills once.
In one evening.
- 6 years ago@EdwardDLuffy so which guns do you use then? G7 is better than all the snipers (unless you're trying to shoot people across the map, but what's the point if you're too far to finish the kill), because it has a high rate of fire, bigger mag and you can also easily find more ammo for it.
And if you compare it to other assault rifles then at medium range Scout is more accurate, unless you switch them to the single fire mode, but Scout would still do more damage. In my view, Scout is quite possibly the best gun for medium range.
As for close range, you'll want an SMG or a shotgun, so you have something that you can confidently hipfire when people start dancing around you like crazy 🙂
@DarthValtrex thanks! Yeah, G7 is awesome 🙂 - 6 years ago@Romet6 I am only decent with the Spitfire, Flatline or R301. My aim is not good (but not as trash as it used to be) so I need guns with high mags as I miss the larger percentage of my shots. I also have a bad habit of forgetting to reload between quick fights.
If I get a Hemlock, Prowler or Havoc I forget I have them and wonder why they aren't firing :D - although when I am 'in the zone' with a Havoc I am lethal.
I am actually pretty good with a sniper and have elimated loads of people across the map.
As you may have guessed from my username I'm of advanced years and my brain simply doesn't work fast enough to be as good as you :D - 6 years ago
bot lobby, or you play on just created account?
enemies seems like complete bots. - 6 years ago@EdwardDLuffy well, I'm in my 30s actually, so I'm not as young as most players either and it also took me a while to get used to Apex, coming over from the Battlefield series where the matches were more chill and teams were large, so there was hardly any pressure on me to play sweaty and pull off any miracles. I had to relearn everything in Apex and upgrade my setup to get higher FPS 🙂
I've never had the problem with forgetting to reload though. My issue is the opposite, I keep spamming reload too frequently when there's plenty of ammo left in the mag 🙂 (it's a habit I got from single player games). The only time I've been stuck with a weapon that's not firing is with L-star, because the weapon itself doesn't come with any bullets. It's hilarious to pick it up with no ammo off drop, point it at people punching you and click the trigger like crazy with nothing happening :D
I have eliminated a few people across the map with a sniper as well (did a 700m record elimination with Charge Rifle once), but if I'm going for high kill games then a sniper rifle just doesn't get me great results consistently enough. Sometimes you get lucky eliminations with it, but mostly the knocked enemies just crawl behind a rock and get revived and if you try to push in to finish them then you'll have to make do with just one gun, because a sniper is hardly reliable at close range. Snipers are fine for farming damage though 🙂
I have gotten a 20 badge with Spitfire as well, so you can certainly make it work, but close range SMGs and shotguns are more effective, because they have a higher fire rate and they also allow you to strafe around faster behind cover to avoid taking damage, while chipping away at the enemy's health. I'd rather take a fully kitted SMG/Shotgun over an LMG. I've lost a final 1v1 to a Mastiff with my Devotion, while in this match I eliminated two Devotion players with an SMG. I'm lucky that I was able to knock the Mastiff player with shots in the back, because a face to face fight would've been really bad for me... one hit alone could've done 104 damage to me and his teammate would've finished me off.
As for longer ranges, Spitfire just doesn't have the same range as Scout, but it's still viable at medium range if it has good attachments. - 6 years ago
@SlivPTS if you're asking whether I was smurfing then no, I've been using this account since the very beginning when the game first came out. At any rate, with the current SBMM system the account age doesn't matter anymore. You can already get diamond opponents in like the 2nd or 3rd match.
I mentioned in my original post that the average opponent level was around 150, so these weren't completely new players either. If you consider that only about 20% of the player base is Platinum ranked or above then I'd say that these were pretty much average players. Certainly not very sweaty ...people don't get their personal kill records in very sweaty lobbies (partially because those aggressive lobbies die off pretty much in round 1). At any rate, whenever you kill people fast enough to get the 20 badge, the enemies will look like bots. That's why just about every 20 kill game I've seen online gets "bot lobby" comments 🙂 ...I mean, if one person can kill more than 20 of them then obviously they couldn't have been Apex gods. - DarthValtrex6 years agoHero (Retired)@Romet6 I think people want that destroying 130+ damage head shot from a sniper. But the spam fire from a G7/Hemlock are just more effective. I know a lot of players who skip mid range guns all together. Definitely makes things interesting when the enemy has mid range and you're the only person your team with anything for range.
I love the G7 with a 2x4x or 3x on it. - 6 years ago
@DarthValtrex well, the high damage headshots can look cool (especially if you noscope someone), but I'd rather have a high fire rate and lots of easily available ammo, so I can afford to miss a few shots on moving targets without having to reload while they escape. And if for whatever reason you need to hipfire them with your long range weapon then I'd rather spam Scout shots than Sentinel 🙂

@Romet6The Triple Take is fairly decent at medium range. It can also double as a so/so shotgun in CQC. The one benefit the Triple Take has over the G7 are for situations in which you need slightly more range than the G7 reliably offers.
But in general I agree, you want a CQC weapon. Prowler, 99, Flatline R-301 or a shotty paired with something for mid range. R-301/Flatline will be at a slight disadvantage in CQC to Shotty/99/Prowler.
Good mid range choices, G7, Hemlock in single fire, Snipers such as longbow/triple take. The hard part with the Triple Take and Longbow, you have to be extremely accurate.
True, I rarely run low on sniper ammo and only carry 2 stacks. 32 rounds is typically all I need to carry. I can typically loot more as the round progresses. Once it gets to top 3 I typically dump the sniper for secondary CQC it depends on final ring. The only time I have run out was in at Train yard, we got stuck there and I went through something like 68 rounds of sniper ammo. But we were also out of cells, syringes, med kits and so on. Only thing that kept us alive was a wattson and a fenced box up top. - 6 years ago@DarthValtrex I've used snipers for 4k damage badges and the big issue was that I always had trouble finding some crucial piece of the puzzle. I'd need a good rifle, a good scope and lots of ammo and I'd always be missing one of the 3 in the early game (and if I got the Triple Take then I needed to find the choke as well). If I get it late then I may have missed out on too many damage farming opportunities already. I did get my badges, but I also realized that I have a better success rate by just picking up Scout instead. There's always plenty of loot available for Scout.
Triple Take does hit hard, though, so every now and then I do pick it up and get some good shots in. - hayhor6 years agoHero
@Romet6I wouldnt worry about the negatives in here. Vile has posted many times how 80% of his/her deaths are cheaters.
I saw a great game where there were some fortunate moments but you have to be good to get those. I'll never get there as I cannot control the recoil like you were. And I'm not good at dancing! What I noticed most was how much you hip fire. I need to remember that is even an option.
@hayhor it's not just an option, but a necessity. When the enemy is right in your face, you'll have a difficult time tracking and dodging him while aiming down sights. So then you just need a weapon that is reliable for hip fire and burst prowler is the best choice for me. Shotguns are more difficult, so I like to use them indoors and in doorways where the enemy can't shoot me without lining up perfectly for my shotgun shot (like that Wattson did in the early game) 🙂
As for luck, you kinda have to make your own luck by frequently taking the high ground, 3rd partying people and knowing when to push and when to run. With that final fight, I first ran from the full squad and only went back once two teams were fighting. That's probably the only reason why I won the game - the enemies were still recovering from the fight when I started shooting at them. Evidently that Bangalore was low on health as well, so she was busy healing when I shot her in the back. If they were all at full health and fully focused on me then I'm not sure that I could've cracked that squad. - 6 years ago@Romet6 Nice, yesterday i got my second 2k damage on loba, which to me is great. Damn would be really cool to be able to get thee 4k or 20 bomb but i dont think ill get any of those anytime soon
- 6 years ago
@RustedYoda keep trying and learning new tricks and you'll get there. There was a time when I couldn't imagine ever getting either of these badges.
The damage badge is all about farming from a distance. Take a strong high ground spot around multiple teams and then you can even keep knocking the same guy 3 times in a row for extra damage. I got a 4k badge on Loba with just 10 kills by sitting on the high walls in King's Canyon. I also got a 4k with Bloodhound by sitting high up on Train Yard for the entire game (somehow the game ended right where I first landed). Pathfinder is best for taking good high ground spots all around the map, but Loba can teleport up to some places as well and if she runs out of loot then she can use her ultimate to pick up stuff from the killed enemies below.
EDIT: You can also download the Tracker Networks app to get an in-game overlay, which will show you the damage amount for your ongoing match when you bring it up. They seem to miscalculate headshot numbers though, because they only see the numbers that are shown in the game, not the numbers that the game actually counts with low health opponents. So assume that the shown number might be inflated by couple hundred points. - 6 years ago@Romet6 So watched it and it was a funny match. You went for the 20 bomb from the get go or you just got into it? Usually when I’m at 10 kills and still see 8+ squads alive I try to play more aggressively, but I’m not a suicider so I still hang back with my squad and end up with 12-16 killz xD.
Finally someone who can use the burst prowler. We found a new guy @DarthValtrex!
There were definitely some lucky moments but good for you that they were there. The stupid thing in such matches is always seeing the low kill/dmg output of your teammates... I knew they’d straggle behind you but not even 500 dmg surprised me... xD - 6 years ago@Koochi-Q yes, I went for 20 right from the start. I was expecting multiple teams to drop in my initial location, but they didn't, so I had to run a bit to find some action.
I think the bloodhound running around in circles, while I dipped out and took the roof, was hilarious. It was like a scene straight out of a cartoon. He was coming at me so hard with that scary mastiff that I figured I'd just bail and let him tire himself out :D
Yes, random teammates can be brilliant sometimes. I don't need them to do much, but sometimes people just stand around, not shooting, not healing, just sorting out some loot while I am desperately trying to cling on to life and having an epic battle right next to them. In such situations I just need to find clever ways to draw the action to my teammates, so that they'd be forced to get involved and then I can finally take some free shots at the enemies 🙂 - 6 years ago@Romet6 Thanks for the tips! I tried the G7 last night and got some great damage, especially when the double-tap trigger was applied. I chipped 200 off a squad we had pinned down until my TM (we dropped as a duo in trios) decided to rush them and got downed.
The Prowler, less so. I barely got any kills with it. I play on console and it's hard to control the recoil with a controller.
I realise I have become over-reliant on the Spitfire so need to vary it up a bit. The R301 is prob the best combo with the G7 as same ammo.
I had a brilliant game last night with a Mirage (again, duo in trios). We made it to the final three and hid at the bunker (outside). I (BH) scanned the door to see a solo Loba behind it who immediately sh*t her pants. She eventually ran off. Another squad of three came through and where climbing all over the walls. I was sniping and hiding and they were looking all over the map for me, unaware I was almost breathing down their necks. They ran off too and took care of the Loba. When the ring closed me and Mirage emerged for the 2v3 fight. A Rev and Gibby spotted Mirage and starting firing but I knocked them both, only to get knocked by an Octane. The Octane then downed the (heavily damaged) Mirage so we didn't win, but it was a great game :D - 6 years ago@EdwardDLuffy happy to help! 🙂
Personally, I don't really like double tap, especially when I am dealing with moving targets or shooting people at longer ranges. If I miss then it just doubles the miss and I do miss a lot 🙂 ...besides, I can just as easily spam the trigger button to shoot lots of bullets in a short amount of time. However, if you're getting better results with it then that's great! It's important that you have a loadout that you can feel really confident with.
As for the prowler, are you using it close up or at a distance? Burst prowler is like a shotgun, you'll want to hipfire with it almost within punching range, because it becomes much less effective when you're further away. I would generally also recommend using the highest FOV setting, so it's easier to track people when you get that close. If they have a low FOV then it's almost like they have binoculars on and they can lose track of you more easily if you keep moving outside of their limited field of view. That's a big advantage, because it makes it possible to shoot them without taking too much damage in return.
I'm glad that you had fun, but can you think of a way that you could've won the match? It's good to take a moment after each match to think what you could've done differently with the information that you had to achieve better results.
One thing I wish my teammates would consider more before pushing or running is some basic math: if everyone has 200 health and one guy pushes into a 1v3 situation then he'll need to do 600 damage total to the whole squad, while the enemy would only need to do 67 damage each on one single target. That math is disproportionately skewed in favor of the trio, so you shouldn't push that unless you're an Apex god. Something similar applies to a 2v3 fight, although your odds are better there. When the odds are heavily against you then you need to find a way to even those odds. Maybe look for a care package, so you can grab an OP gun like a Kraber or a Devotion and if the last two teams are fighting then that's your only chance to push and get some free shots in (ideally a knock against one or more enemies), before they turn to fight you. That's also when someone like Crypto becomes surprisingly useful, because he can EMP the last 2 squads (even indoors) while they're already hurt and then finishing them off with a few nades and a powerful gun will be much easier. The drone is also a good tool to get the last two teams to start fighting... if you EMP one team and then keep harassing them with the drone, so they'd make a lot of noise trying to shoot it then that can entice even a solo player to rush in towards the action to hit the distracted and damaged opponents.
Anyway, there's usually always something more that you could've done and if you figure out a winning strategy then you can use it next time when you're in a similar situation.
