Yes but it's a bit silly for a machine gun to have 18 bullets per magazine and to rely solely on RNG to find extended magz.
You do realize you're referring to an SMG right.... the game pretty much spells it out for you. Light ammo guns are weakest, and heavy ammo are most damage. Its fine if you dont want to play the game, but dont ruin it for everyone else.
R-301 is an assault rifle that uses light ammo, but yes it does do less damage. He could have killed him if he just aimed down the sight and actually aimed though.
