And in addition to my original post, I have a hypothetical question that’s lingering on my mind:
The change from 15 to 35 seconds seems pretty intentional. The devs seem to be making a very clear point as where the want Path to be regarding viability.
But what happens if Pathfinder continues to have the highest “pick rate” amongst the Legends— will this result in yet another nerf?
I know the devs want to balance the game to the best of their ability and they often look to pick rate as one of the important measures to see how viable a character is amongst the player community. Wraith and Pathfinder have been the clear top characters since day one and those characters have subsequently seen a series of nerfs (where as less popular characters like Gibby were given buffs to increase viability and pick rate). Although Gibby’s pick rate has seen an increase, Wraith and Pathfinder continue to be the top picks for casual players and in competitive play.
I’m just concerned that people will continue to pick Pathfinder because the grappling hook function is still the most fun feature in the game and this will prompt additional changes to the character to get players to stop picking him. That would suck.
@apostolateofDOOM, good answer. I need to stay on my hooves 😈 :P yea, david is the nice one! ID just like being mean to us DOOMers because we spread blood & fear wherever we go and he wants to be a part of it but can’t!

@Koochi-Q First of all, congrats on finishing that novel you posted a few comments back, it gave war and peace a run for it's money. XD
@apostolateofDOOM I'm not nasty, just apathetic. 😛
- 6 years ago@MandatoryIDtag To anyone hating on pathfinder, I guarantee they will be crying for mirage nerfs soon when everyone catches on he is super overpowered.
Il agree pathy was strong but overpowered ? No way in fact most pathys ive came across I mop the floor with them easier than most classes because they grapple to bad positions and are super squishy.
Il just main mirage this patch who Is the real escape artist now, shame I cant swing on a building no more to shoot down on a squad for easy kills but mirage shall do until hes nerfed and it becomes the caustic meta.- 6 years ago
@MikwinN11 Fair enough,i never at any point said that pathfinder was overpowered though. Unless you've misunderstood my use of "OP" in my initial comment...which referred to "original post" and not the usual overpowered lol. 😛
I have no issue with pathfinder as a legend pre nerf, he could just be a bit of an annoyance to fight at times....but that comes with any high mobility character on any game lol.
- 6 years ago@MandatoryIDtag Didn’t you know I’m an award winning author. That prize is the nobel prize for peace(... and war 😈) XD. I need to stay on my game!
Thank you for the warm compliment. Now gimme all your money (war part acting up 😜)
- 6 years ago@Koochi-Q But if the pick rates remain relatively the same, the devs will not have achieved what they want, which is to see less Pathfinders being played.
So wouldn’t this prompt further nerfs?
At this point I actually wouldn’t be shocked if they changed the cool down time to 45 or 60 seconds. I’m probably going to continue playing him regardless even if I am having significantly less fun.- 6 years ago@Axs5626Sxa5001 I think this was more a case of high pick rate + people complaining about the legend as opposed to just high pick rate. I think now the pick rate will stay high but a lot less ppl (basically all non pathfinder mains if I may generalize) complaining. I think the complaining/demanding a nerf factor was what pushed this nerf. Now if he gets picked alot but with less ‘feedback’ (as to call it that) they might think that this is a good halfway point. He can still get away, but not to the extend that he’s uncatchable.
Nahhh further nerfs, especially on tact side would make no sense at all. But I’m not a dev nor clairvoyant to see into the future. But hope you see my reasoning and agree (somewhat).- 6 years ago
@Koochi-QI absolutely agree.
I am just fearful that players will still complain about Path because a lot of us mains will continue to play and win with him.
I can already see people bitching when they don’t down Path because he grappled away. “Path’s grapple hook is OP man!” Those complaints coupled with no obtuse drop in pick rate are just going to result in more nerfs.
I will roll with the punches regarding nerfs, but I do find myself asking “where do we draw the line?” After Path’s last nerf I asked the community if Path was finally in an ok place and the overwhelming majority said “yeah he is ok now”.
But now some of the same people flipping back and are saying “no he always needed the 35 second cool down.”
So I pose that question again to the players who have been unhappy with Path players:
Is this nerf enough? Is he in an ok spot now? Or do you think we should bump his low profile up to 10% increased damage? Maybe a just take away the zipline and make his grappling hook his ultimate on a 60 second cooldown?
Lol. Again, I’m just interested in where people draw their lines.
