Horizontal Recoil on Mouse vs Controller

I use both mouse and controller.

There is almost no horizontal recoil and drift when using a mouse vs controller.

The controller has a deadzone so the horizontal recoil drifts uncontrolled freely within that deadzone. You need a deadzone on the stick or else you have stick drift. The slowdown (aim assist) doesn't help with this, it makes it worse, because it slows down input so technically the deadzone becomes larger or more sluggish.

On a mouse you have almost no horizontal recoil because the mouse doesn't need a deadzone so your input is constantly keeping the sight in check whenever you slightly move the mouse.

Then on top of that Respawn may balance the game additionally in favor of mouse input by having the weapons with highest damage have the worst recoil.

"Competitions"

Because of this difference, tournaments and competitions in Apex Legends can't be considered as a competition. It can be considered as entertainment, but not a competition.

It's as if Nadal showed up agains Federer with a table tennis racket. It would be entertainment, but not a competition.

I know Electronic Arts wants to promote their games as a sport, but as long as there is crossplay its not a true sport. The terms are different. Its only entertainment and thats ok.

@Sand_spitter I don't disagree with you but at the highest level they don't fight with bad loot. They all drop to their own POI and most have decent loot. They have to be good with different guns just in case they don't find the exact one they like best. This is why balancing is so critical of this game.
  • @hayhor yeah, but imagine someone is pushing up on you and you are lucky enough to be close to a care package or death box and do a armor swop mid fight. Maybe the opponent didn't have that option, which is where the loot comes back to bite you. Did the best player really win that fight? Not to mention stuff like gold armor that heals super quick etc..

@Sand_spitterIts a stronger argument that input devices are vastly different and the game offers vastly more options to ajust for mouse input compared to controller. The game basically favours mouse input. Thats the conclusion.

So a side effect of that, from a logical standpoint, competitions with crossplay is nothing other than entertainment and the "competition" generally in BR or Arena is unfair.

Well I didnt use deadzone on my controllers and I never had problems with recoil, if it started drifting its busted. I moved to eSwap so I could get new parts fast and cheap to keep it locked in. Now im on mnk since I moved to PC I took the jump at the same time as soon as my controller started drifting.

  • @Ingeniekey Of course, I agree with that too. Mixed input lobbies should never have been a thing, and maybe if they did competitions on console like they do for pc it shouldn't have to be.
