Horrible matchmaking, script/macro usage and hackers. How do you enjoy S16?

Apex became insane to play. It's just getting worse and worse
As the game stays out for longer, the skill gap will increase, yes, but this game is not suffering from that, At least not while that is on it's own.

Matchmaking is horrible. It's absolutely horrendous. It hasn't been fixed, you just have a different kind of bad random matchmaking
I don't even know how it works, I tried reading through your blog post but it's not clear at all
I keep getting diamond and master players in my lobbies. AND YOU TOLD ME IT WONT BE HAPPENING WITH THE NEW MATCHMAKING! Based on my skill. I get like, 30 horrendous games, then I get one single game where it feels like everything got balanced. Then I do well, and then I get matched against masters again!
And then there are my teammates. Nothing against randos, but they are often of lower level and lower skill. You told me you are going to be matching based on the value of "carry". You want to reduce the skill gap in the squad, so you match everyone equally, within their squads, but I still get lower skill players. YES IT'S OKAY IF YOU'RE CHILL AND OF LOWER SKILL, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST YOU! I'm just mentionign this for this post

Plus, you said how you're aware that kind of matchmaking system wont be fair for people in the server, but it will be more fair for people in the squad. Which is just... WHY
So you're telling me you're taking priority of matching like... all masters that queue up into the lobby together, rather than matching the whole lobby equally. Because of some "carry value"
So you can have random masters getting a 3 stack, and then have like, level 20s in the other squad. In the same lobby...
give me a break. I just love how you acknowledge that it wont be fair, too

Not to mention, there are so many smurfs who abuse the already horrible matchmaking.

Just beaming all over the place, or snapping through walls, or seeing through smokes etc
In majority of the fights I die after peeking for a tiniest bit of time, because I get beamed instantly. Then I spectate and it's some low level player who doesn't even holster the gun while running, has horrible tracking while shooting, but for whatever reason their recoil doesn't exist. Better recoil control than pro players but they can't track anyone 
And it's happening constantly
Because you can literally see in the spectating camera when the gun wants to move around while you shoot it, and you can see people controlling it, because it's never perfect. And then you can also see when the gun is standing perfectly still like it's a clamped down water hose spraying water, where the bullets go in a perfect straight line with 0 deviation.
And then you also enable config files and console commands to be edited. So people can macro jumps for Neo strafing and also delete particle effects so they can see through all of the smoke even. So many times I just get beamed with r301 through bangalore smoke, even though I'm standing behind the smoke at some distance, so I can't be seen inside of it. I just don't understand

Then again, half of those people could be hacking, because it's impossible to tell them apart at times


How do you even enjoy playing Season 16? You either have to play the game 30 days in a week for 40 hours per day. with no breaks, be an absolute sweatlord, or you have to macro the hell out of the game. Or you know, just good ol' hacks. there is no other way to be successful
You are not allowed to enjoy the game if you play it casually, or if you have a job/go to school and come home and want to relax. You can't play anything else other than Apex, either. You can't go with an off-meta loadout, or evne a meme loadout to have some fun

And it's so sad

Wasted 10 bucks on a BattlePass like a *. So now I'm playing because I don't want to feel like my 10 bucks is going to waste lol


Please for the love of god at least fix the matchmaking I am begging you. What you did is like you swapped punctured tires on your car for other punctured tires. It makes no sense, nothing has been fixed. There was a change, yeah maybe, but it makes 0 difference
Please fix the matchmaking. Please. there is nothing rewarding in playing 30 games and getting stomped, then having one good game, then back to 30 stomp games.
Please. Fix the matchmaking

    @F0XYB0IARBLE I think they were doing some matchmaking tests in some EU regions recently, but to my knowledge, they have not started to roll out the big matchmaking changes yet. Last update I saw (EA matchmaking blog post) said "early 2023", and I don't think S16 had any MM changes in it, but I could be mistaken

    I'm not really sure what you're on about, with S16, playing 40 hours per day? I've played maybe 10 matches each day since the season started, and I'm already almost level 25 for the Battle Pass. I've been using pistols a lot too, working on challenges, and had a blast wrecking people with the Moz and P2020 in TDM. Had a 16-18 kill game with just under 4k damage, using nothing but the Moz, Lol! I work 40+ hours a week in steel fabrication, and still am able to relax and have fun on Apex, and many other games, on a daily basis. Lately, I hop on for a few matches on Apex, then switch to Forza Horizon 5, then either Gears of War 4, Rider's Republic or Zelda BotW, and I'm already 1/4 of the way through the Battle Pass.

    I know there are a lot of variables when it comes to connection/lobbies, and I have no idea how you ended up in the lobbies that you are in, but I hope it improves for you soon!! I'm curious to see how the matchmaking changes actually effect the game. I get rolled by a pred 3-stack probably 1 out of 10 games or so, and I quite simply should never be in the same lobby as a player that has reached pred tier. I'm good enough to make them work for it, and usually knock at least one of them, but I definitely shouldn't be in lobbies with that caliber player. I don't really see the other stuff though, and I've been playing since launch. I occasionally see someone rubber-banding a bit, but nothing like what you're seeing. There have been a couple times where hit-reg has been a little off over the years, but for me, it's been limited to the first week or so of a new season.

    With the Bangalore smoke, I don't know if they changed it at some point, but it is really easy to see people in smoke these days, even without a digi scope. I can almost always see the silhouette in the smoke.

    Apex definitely has its issues, like any game. Some people deal with more than others. I consider myself lucky, based on what I see other people talking about. My biggest complaint since launch, is simply that I get put in lobbies with master/pred players, when I should never be in lobbies with them. Here's to hoping that matchmaking changes for the better!! Only time will tell..

    I don't see the degree of cheating that you're describing, but I also don't play on pc. If you're on pc then I have to say I'm not surprised at all. pc gaming is a complete and utter ****hole. I don't know why anyone would put up with any of that when, expecially these days, it offers so little beyond what a good console can do. Although I have to say I'm open to correction on that point if there's been some epic breakthrough in pc gaming recently. There certainly have been epic cheating breakthroughs.

    The matchmaking is pretty tragic in this game. And yes, there are fixes on the way, but I should have put the word fixes in quotes. They won't end up fixing much of anything at all. Games are built for the benefit of the 5% at the top of the food chain and the rest of us are just here to pay the bills. It's been that way since the advent of online multiplayer gaming, and it will always be that way. No one will ever build a low-skill ceiling game or low-barrier-to-entry game, and even if they did then cheaters and smurfs would still infiltrate and overrun it completely just as they have here.

    I'm whipping this game using all the ways to basically not play it and unlock the free stuff.  No battle pass, no playing really.

    It's not the cheaters, which sure exist, but it's Respawn itself and their dumpster quality while trying to somehow ratchet the freemium bucks.  If you drop money on this game, I'm glad for you, because you help me keep exploiting the totally allowed and obvious things you can do with this game.

    GG on the new season's garbage, Apex.  Can't wait for your no work Season 17 :P

    @reconzero Agreed, mostly. Any activity will have winners and losers. Time+natural ability = better. That's how life works. You either get better than the majority or you call it a day. That is why variance in lobbies is important, so while you may not win, you at least can lose with some dignity.

    As for pc gaming, I've never been happier vs my console days. I actually think there are more console cheaters vs pc but I could be wrong. I'm posting better damage numbers, better kd, no more one clipped from stupid distances with a roller outside of aa range etc... Not to mention better performance. Sure, new consoles has the performance boost too but so what? It's a different experience entirely, a more expensive one, but a better one imo.

    Just a side note - I though I would hate it too, until I tried it. Never going back. And also, it's hard to understand that people can have "such good aim without aimbot" until you learn it yourself, not to say it isn't a thing, but you'd be surprised...

    Not to be THAT GUY, but until I can do it on a mac then there is no interest in pc gaming on my part. I'll return to windows when hell freezes over.

    I'm curious to hear you say "more console cheaters vs pc." That is contrary to everything I have ever heard from anyone. Console guys may use strikes and anti-recoil, but as far as I know there is no way to use actual aimbots or wall hacks on console, things which seem to be so readily available for pc.

    Well, 23 years of dogwater aim WITH aim assist tells me that mnk would definitely not be a thing for me. Also I have to say that there is at least something intuitive about a controller. MNK seems to me like the complete opposite. If I wanted to spent another 15 years in piano lessons I'd just go back to the piano. At least something worthwhile comes out of that!

    Well yeah, that's what I meant - chronus/xim/strike packs or whatever the kids use these days are undetectable. And these companies exist and sell their products...someone is buying it and using it, but since it's console it seems like a lot of people are still in disbelief that it's actually being used by players. As far as Apex goes I have yet to see even one of my deaths raise an eyebrow. Sure, people beam you but you beam back...not seeing any sus behaviour aside from a few smurfs here and there which is not technically cheating. Sure it happens somewhere, just haven't encountered it yet, console was the opposite for me.

    I wasn't even thinking about smurfs, but in my humble opinion it's cheating and it isn't even a lesser form of cheating. What makes it even more aggrevating is that the developer could detect and shut down in a matter of a few matches, but that would interfere with several other dev objectives and so it's not only allowed, it's encouraged and it flourishes.

    @Unitee01 @reconzero In my personal opinion, Windows v Mac is the same as Ford v Chevy. If you've had bad experiences with one, you switch to the other, and never look back

    And that was exactly as you were intended to do.

    That is not a bad analogy, although one that I prefer, being extremely partisan on the issue, is that it's the same as Good vs. Evil, and Micro$oft in this case is Evil. Which is ironic coming from me who is also an Xbox partisan. Don't ask me why they can make a gaming console that never fails (software wise) and that is relatively user friendly, when windows is, to me, a complete and total circus of bloatware and "abort retry fail" engineering.

    @reconzeroI glad someone feels the same about Xbox vs windows 😂

    Apple does a lot of good stuff, however their devices seem rigged to blow a few years after purchase. And also I would never purchase their air pods when I can get better quality and still have touch buttons for only $30. iPhone is better in every way except for picture quality, android absolutely rocks that section.
