How do you add friends?

I'm trying to friend somebody through the game on PC but when I go on the friend menu, there is no option to friend people. Please help!

    You have to friend request them in the ea origin launcher. Once done they should show up in game.

    A recent player's tab is definitely needed in this game. I can do it on the xbox but only by using the recent players tab in the friends system menu
