How do you win gunfights now?

As a mouse and keyboard player, I barely win gunfights anymore. I don't do ranked, only duos. In all seasons up until season 11 I would probably win atleast 3 out of 5 games, given I didn't hotdrop. If I hotdropped and came out last man standing, I would mostly win the game. Hardest part had been done.

Either way, all my games would be somewhat high kill games, maybe 8-10 kills, 2000 damage, on average. This could be any lobby. I didn't and still don't do anything to get into certain lobbies. I just click the play button.

Now, I can't win anything. And if I do, it's the sweatiest thing imaginable. And this is against any players. It seems there is no skill gap when it comes to aiming between any of my opponents, whether they are jumping around doing parkour in front of me, or just casually strolling around.

Nobody misses a shot. It truly feels like I'm trying to beat a cheater every time. I've been thinking that surely I must be the common denominator. I must be standing completely still or something, or missing all my shots.

But I'm not. I must do my absolute best in order to have a chance. Have players gotten so much better? I don't think so... It all looks the same to me. If not worse...

I notice there are alot more controller players now. Probably 90% of the lobby is on controller. If I'm not mistaken, they bumped up aim-assist to 0.6, or 60%, or however it translates. Heard somewhere that if aim-assist is at 1.0, it's just pure aimbot. So is the current aim-assist the same as having 60% of an aimbot? It certainly feels like it. Because no matter what I do, I'm out-aimed. Whether it's a bad, average or good player, judging from their badges, trackers, etc. It all feels the same way. Except from the parkour part.

Every fight is just very difficult. Players that I know I'm much better than still beat me, probably 8 of out 10 times. And the times that I do win a fight, well, now my health is super low, so I can't just immediately go after their teammate. Now I haft to heal for 12 seconds... It was never like this in the past... And I'm strictly talking about aim here, nothing else.

Then, if I spectate my killer, once they have another fight, they flop over. Alot of times they lose immediately. They don't even put up a fight. Even against a team that seems to be much worse than them.

So I'm thinking: "How could they beat me but not them?"

I swear I must be getting bamboozled myself, here.

So... does anyone else feel the same way? It can't just be me. I mean, it's every game now. Just give me a break. I used to enjoy getting into fights, partly because I knew I had a very good chance at winning them, as I'd like to rate myself as an above average player. Now, I still wanna fight, but I know my chances to win are very low, even when I have some sort of advantage. I can't even slightly show my body without getting annihalated.

  • @l_m4ch1n4_l I wouldn't be surprised if they are actual bots.

For the longest time I felt like that. Almost every single enemy I came across never missed a shot, no matter if they're level 21 or 500. They're all literally a copy-paste of each other.

I do not believe in the aim-assist thing, so it's either bots set to nightmare level, or there are far too many people slapping strikepacks on their controller.

I think they have changed something in the matchmaking recently, since I am performing better than usual. I am not complaining at least.

Win fights by fighting least amount tactical way.

If you 3rd party. Scan and wear down both teams fighting eachother and don't focus on one. Get them down to 2v2 or 1v1 and your squad can finish them off.

Height is king in this game, makes it easy to re-peek to heal or retreat. If you're in a lower position there are less options. Better to break off. If there is no shift in power guarantee better to break off as in 60 seconds another party will come along. Don't attack without a retreat plan.

Let people fight outside the ring, once the ring closes you'll be there waiting for them as they rush in panic towards you already taking health damage.

By far the worst way is to dive into a crowded building and let RNG decide hip fire spam contest.

Play Valorant. No aim assist, great anti-cheat, and the game is one the most technically sound shooters out right now.

  • And there it is, yet another player just blindly dismissing aim assist on controller as if it is

    not an issue whatsoever.

    Exactly why nothing gets done.

Exactly why so many pro's are turning to Controller who were Mnk.

I tend to listen to the guys who do this for a living and win major tournaments, and what they have to say about it.

It just confirms what I see match after match.

    Nuh-uh!

I'm not a pro while using AA so obviously it's not an issue!

It does nothing at all, ever!

If anything it makes me worse at the game!

I use it to give myself more of a challenge or else nobody else could hope to defeat the infinity/0 KD ratio I'd have!

(I've been outspoken against AA since season like 3 or 4 or so. It's fine if console wants it I guess, but don't mix inputs... I loved Apex, but  I quit after I tried abusing AA for a few matches. Couldn't unsee that...)

oh yeah I feel the same guys,

usually when I get destroyed and I spectate the player that killed me I see the same thing, same thing and I repeat... the same thing:

their movement is non-mouse regardless of device, meaning that their camera moves vertically without any horizontal drift, and rather snappy movement rather than smooth normal mouse movement, you know, this smooth snapping turns that are sometimes slow sometimes fast, and always travel at same speed over the 95% of the distance of a turn....

clearly, meaning they are on a controller...

    who would have guessed?

    Hey all,

While I appreciate that good ol' aim assist is always going to be a touchy subject, I think this thread has officially run its course. We're getting dangerously close to descending into a full-on verbal brawl here, so I'm just going to quietly lock this thread.
