I'm the reverse.
Seldom has a mic ever made up for skill, in fact, conversation is distracting. Too many haters, too many people telling you what they are certain you should be doing while they screw up themselves, too many Alpha wanna be's all the way up. Even when you let someone else lead, you tend to just die with them because voice domination, like real life, has nothing to do with skill and in fact is often inversely related.
Not to mention, good players not only can get by without mics, but you can tell if they talk if they're useful. So it's far better to listen in the first minute without saying a thing, and muting if you hear nothing good. It's actually not much better than muting right out of the gate, but sometimes I've heard a decent person and stayed on. What's the ratio of that to the rest? Like 1:100.
So I'd rather have skill. The ping system is advanced enough to get through most situations of needing to communicate.
