How will ranked work with crossplay?

So I am looking for some clarification on what will happen when crossplay drops later on. Most importantly if I am doing ranked play, will console players be separated from pc players? If pc players are competitively playing with console players then naturally I am going to want to switch back to pc. Which would be very unfortunate as all of my progress is on the PlayStation. Should this end up being the case I would feel more inclined to probably never play the game again then starting over on the pc since all of my progress will be gone.
