Hunting on Drop

I've noticed a new strategy becoming more prevalent this Ranked season. Following teams that are trying to drop in a secluded spot to take them out.

It's actually pretty annoying there have been a few times where I've noticed it during drop & had to change my course & land somewhere else.

Has anyone else experienced this?

  • @Lord_Scorpion34 Been this way since Apex’s inception. Even though being jump master is a simple concept, it takes skill to drop. Especially if you’re solo. Cause you gotta assume your teammates are on that za za, or tiky toking. Always assume apex community has low iq’s. This will help you. It’s on the jump master to plan the right poi, continually check surroundings during the flight. But not everybody approaches jumps the same way.
  • @Lord_Scorpion34 When I've played ranked in the past I definately do this to get a 3v3. Most people that wait and drop late don't want to fight and are at an immediate disadvantage.

Why are people doing this when early KP counts for almost nothing and, even if the squad places well, doesn't add very much LP?  It would seem logical to me in pubs, but not so much in ranked.  For Evo shield charge, maybe?

  • @hayhor Like pandareno said it makes no sense to fight early when kills count for nothing lp wise. Plus most of the time when I fight early I go out before the top 10.

I know you don't care about the lp. Just saying for those who do fighting early has no benefit.

Teams are also finding ways to stay off radar until late in the jump when you're almost about to land bold & risky move since the other team is already in the process of looting, but has paid off for some.

Early game fights are fun 3v3 if you drop with brain (god I miss arenas). First reason is to level up armors. Second is the fact that once its zone 3 there are no 3v3 fights. You either 3rd party or get 3rd partied. Also with the current matchmaking you will most likely get run over by a pred stack at some stage of the match so might as well get something positive out of the match with atleast decent odds. No reason to do it for the LP though.

@Lord_Scorpion34 I can't speak for people that care about lp but again, the ones chasing or following are very likely just trying to have fun and get some easy early kills. It very likely costs them no time or anything and one team is gone from the lobby.
  • @hayhor Some of these teams hunting def are doing it for more than fun & are trying to just fight the entire match. I've been running into teams with red shields by round 2!
