I’d rather have long queue times than rank merging to fill

I know this has been talked about time and time again so essentially wasting my time but had a terrible day of ranked getting killed by #40 pred and higher every match at diamond .

Every match is 40% diamond , 30% pred , 30% master so what’s even the point ? I understand that less people at higher ranks so queue merging between ranks happens but it makes the whole system pointless so either change it or just get rid of it . Like is there seriously that little people in diamond / master / predator even with the practically forced crossplay that they have to be merged ?

If I’m diamond 3 , then how is it fair for me to have to fight some of the best players in the world to climb up to the rank that they’re on - and how is it fair for them to be earning points to stay in pred by beating lower skilled players that don’t belong in their lobbies .

Would’ve carried on climbing but that’s kinda completely put me off it now , whole thing needs a rethink . Idk what to suggest to improve it at this point but definitely doesn’t make any sense in its current state .

But yeah I’d definitely rather have longer queues and actually play against my own rank rather than the state it’s in now .

Eh rant over , back to standard and hope the next season makes things a little more fresh and exciting otherwise it’ll be time for another big break from apex

There's no excuse with crossplay and the way they put people in matches but as with almost every other suggestion, i doubt much will change.

I've been pretty vocal on these and other points in previous ranked series but most forum regs didn't sympathise as they didn't bother with ranked much back then, if at all, and some still don't so the topics quickly die away.

Be better if we just had an easy, intermediate and hard mode as even that will add more variance to the current state of bronze to gold and plat to pred.
Unless you're solo que D4/3 fighting stacked pre made master/pred lobbies with gold and plats in your team. It's a joke.

@MassiveVernonThe top levels (pred and masters) already wait around 5 to 10 minutes to get a match. That is why. It isnt about diamond queue times. Unfortunately diamonds either need a really good team or are simply fodder.
The only other possible fix for your issue is to allow more people into those ranks.

@hayhor Then do it , allow more people into those ranks if it helps the problem. I don’t see how diamond ranks being fodder for higher ranks to kill has any sense of fairness at all , just makes the difference in rank kinda pointless .

@MassiveVernon I'm not saying it is fair but this is reality. Getting to diamond is quite good but you are not rewarded at all for it.

Il just leave it for now it’s not worth the headache and as ya say , there’s not much that will ever get done about it by whining on the forums loool. Back to standard I go

Waiting is a very big problem. it zones people out, breaking their flow, it is boring and eats valuable time. These are issues that affect high level players much more than casuals. Maybe we don't mind waiting 5 minutes instead of 30 seconds, but for them it would be more like 20 minutes instead of 10, which means 4-5 hours wasted for each 8 hour play session. That's bad for training, for creating content, for streaming... Many good reasons to abandon the game and, as more and more people would start leaving, that would just scale up the waiting problem exponentially. Smurf number would also increase because of this, potentially making the low ranks unplayable at times.
Allowing more people into diamond rank can't really fix it. If those people would come from lower ranks, this problem would just translate, we'd be getting more platinum / gold people complaining about getting matched with higher ranks, while waiting time for preds would just increase. If those people would be brought in from other data centers, lag would become a big issue. Only way I see is for Respawn to seduce more players to get into Apex and then involved in ranked and also convince somehow the existing players to stay, to keep queue numbers sufficient.

@apostolateofDOOM Maybe crossplay just prevented an accelerated deterioration of ranked because of too few players in certain skill brackets / too long queues. Hard to know without numbers...

@apostolateofDOOM Crossplay didnt solve and was never going to solve anything in regards to this. There are only 500 preds on each system so 1500. And looking at the percentages that have been published masters and preds combined are like .3% of ranked players. That is not much at all. Diamonds are only like 1.5%. Again not many really.

So then let's look at crossplay. On PC you only get more people if console people squad with PC. I doubt that many masters and preds from console squad with PC masters and preds. And even if they did, now the console only population has lost people that can fill their queues.
