I do not understand! #tournament #pc #console #esports

I am becoming so frustrated with how Esports gaming is happening and I need some help to seriously understand!

I am a console player - (predator in a solid 3 man squad)

We are all wanting to look into tournaments and the announcement of the global series was SUPER exciting and then as always.... PC only.

So I come onto the forums and look at all you guys talking about PC and talking about cross-play and how its such a bad idea, how there is so many hackers on pc, how pc is the master race etc, how PC apex is dieing?....

This leads me to be so confused and frustrated! Why is PC the master race if its full of hackers, why is it chosen for tournaments if the game is dieing! Why are Esports so committed to PC only?

The game is still huge and a massive success on console, the opportunity for console cross-play is huge, and Esports for console would also be a huge success!

I am considering coming across from console to PC but why would I want to join this 'master race' if the game is dieing, if its full of hackers.

Why are EA and Esports in general forcing PC when console is the mass market, when console is the solid platform!

  • Heya!

I'm not sure why they Esports are PC preferred but one of the things could be the Raw input of the mouse and keyboard / the aim assist consoles give but I doubt that that would be the reason.

I found an article that maybe explains this in more detail and I get why they only limit it to PC players.

Gamer assault weekly - Why PC esports is preferred over console.

Apex isn't dying on PC and isn't filled with hackers.

Yes there are a couple but there are also mouse and keyboard players on console/players with a modded controller 😛

  • @W33GUFThe game on PC is far from dying, whoever said this is dead wrong. There are hackers on PC, same as every competitive FPS game on PC, but they are not as bad as people say. People will come to the forum and cry about hackers every time they die regardless of if they know they are really hacking or not.

The majority of esports is PC, this is nothing new. You can find console Apex tournaments from time to time, but it isn't anything as big as this. If you want to be serious about competitive gaming, you have to play PC, that's just the way it is.

  • @W33GUF Controller is inferior to mouse/keyboard. Why hold a tournament with inferior movement and aim?
  • A console is just a less powerful and more limited computer. Simply, thats why the best players in the world choose PC over console.

That article was a good read thank you,

I am only going by what I have read on the forums regarding the gaming dying and the constant abuse of hackers and you are right I've seen people use modded controllers firing a Hemlock single fire in what sounds and looks like automatic (impossible for a standard controller) so yes you are right however it is such a small minority.

I am in the process of switching over to PC but from what I have seen regarding que times the PS4 que times are instant what ever time of day but PC ques times seem to be a fair chunk slower and this would suggest to me the numbers are a lot less?

Overall I just think the game is so big on console I don't think I will ever understand why the competitions are not held on console

Thank you for your reply, I am only going by the forums but I am coming across to PC and time will tell as far as my personal experience of hackers and player numbers

Your right regarding tournaments, I've looked into and entered a couple but they are so small, the prize pool is like £100 maximum and its nothing official like the Global series released.

It is going to be a case of 'I'll have to join them' but obviously I am used to a controller and not a mouse and keyboard so ill feel like I'm starting from the bottom again.

I've seen it suggested elsewhere on the forum so i'm literally just echo'ing this idea, but implementation of private lobbies would be the simplest solution. Folk would be able to host their own apex tournaments on any format then, obviously that wouldn't be on the same scale as the esports ones but i think itd still be a pretty cool idea.
