I upgraded my body shield by punching a MRVN?

I'm not one for MRVN abuse, but I do get a little pissy when one dumps out lots of white rubbish. So, yesterday I punched a less-than-generous MRVN and my shield upgraded from blue to purple.

Looking back at the video I had 7 damage to do to upgrade, and then I got a purple shield with 750 to upgrade it to red. I still had to use a cell to charge it.

Has this always been a thing? Have you been able to punch MRVNs to get shield points and I've been in blissful ignorance of this fact?

  • @Cheese9ManI think it might be a bug. I think it was introduced for the prowlers and spiders on Storm Point as NPCs you can damage for shield points. I think Respawn have forgotten to turn it off for MRVNs.

    I think it will be removed - it's a lot easier to damage a MRVN than a prowler/spider.

  • That is a sideffect of wildlife counting as armor upgrade in S11 😉

    It was not there last time MRVN was in play hehe

    @EdwardDLuffy Yeah I think it's from the wildlife change where you could shoot the spiders, prowlers and pigeons. Likely unintended but they probably are all coded the same.

    I believe it's a bug, yep. It was reported as such from what I've seen anyway.

    @EA_David Why not keep it? Same for wildlife in KC when it comes back.

    Makes it consistent. (A lot less opportunities in the other maps anyway)

    @Kyldenar

    Sure,as soon as the MRVNs are programmed to rise up together and lunge 50m at you causing huge amounts of damage!

    A MRVN uprising would be great.
    Lead by Pathfinder (think of the costume opportunities) and the TF|2 MRVN commander who never got his high five.
