I'm a solo queue diamond 4, going into games with up to around 15 predators

This is just an example I had the opportunity to take a picture of but I feel like having the worldwide best predator in the world isn't supposed to be in my diamond 4 game along with others, I mean there were even platinum's in the photo below!!!

And by the best predator, I mean the #1 pred in the world as of now

  • Yeah, literally made a post showing that in most of my lobbies, I get newbies, smurfs, 3 stacks, preds and even hackers all at once.

How is someone new, someone who just plays for fun, supposed to learn and get enjoyment out of the game when they get lasered across the map ('' I guess you should've been better, kid. Next time, counter the 2 tap Mastiff on you by killing me, and my pred friends who aped on you, first. Loser.'')

  • Not trying to excuse the mm in this game, but this is pretty typical. Very few players in this game (anymore) get lobbies made up primarily of their peers. And in your particular example I'm not sure that matchmaking has much of a choice. How many predators and masters are available on any given server at any given time of day? I'd guess not very many - certainly not enough to fill a lobby without forcing a wait time far in excess of what any player would willing endure. My personal feeling is that I don't care if the world's no. 1 predator (probably a cheater) EVER gets a match at all. Their experience falls squarely into the "not my ***king problem" category. But the developer will make it my problem, and yours, by insisting on max 30 second wait times. We all end up playing together no matter how corrosive the experience is for the majority of players. To see just how corrosive you only have to look at the current population vs the population just a year ago. It's not good and it's not getting any better.

I've always been rank-averse. The psychology of rank chasing leaves me pretty cold. But the same process plays out in pubs, and now, thanks to a pre-game visible skill curve, it's very easy to see how a game that was meant to have six or seven skill buckets, has in reality about two, sometimes even just one. Rookie-to-predator lobbies are a thing that actually happen in pubs. Don't know if that makes you feel any better about your platinum-to-predator ranked match, but I would have thought that it might. Which reminds me of yet another compelling reason to never play ranked: when I see garbage matchmaking in pubs then I can just quit and re-queue. In ranked all you can do is fly off the edge of the map and wait it out. And hope your squadmates die before they can respawn you. This is what it's come to.

Of course, we play the game regardless, because the base of the game is good. But I no longer have fun. Even if I happen to get 2 wins in a row, I leave immediately; there is no more sense of satisfaction and temporary 'greatness'.

At the same time, losses do not bother me at all.

I do get frustrated when I lose/ die to an enemy who has way higher skill cap than me, and should not be any close to my lobby. Similarly, I get mad when I lose to smurfs and hackers. But otherwise, if I get knocked-down, I just switch tabs and watch youtube until ressed.

The terrible MM got rid of the urgency and competitiveness out of me, to the point where I am unbothered, which will most likely lead to me to uninstalling soon.

I don't wish people to lose the passion for their game like me, but if EA/ Respawn won't step up, more and more players will experience what I am experiencing right now, and the game will eventually die.
