I'm confused about levels now in apex

So with the new level cap, I was told that if you were already level 500 (I was) then you'd go to level 501 (at least thats the information in the official apex discord). When I downloaded the new update I'm level 1, so was I automatically prestiged? I'm just a little confused that I haven't heard anything about prestiges other than confused friends. This is for the Hunted update.

    @kenzieplays12 It was never gonna be like that. It’s like a prestige type of leveling where it goes back 1 after 500. And the badges can’t accommodate 4 digits.

    @Lord_Scorpion34 Right now everyone can’t get any packs because it’s bugged. I would assume it will be like going back to the original level (levels 1-10 will give you a pack per level).

    so i read that you will get a pack every 5 levels just as you did after lvl 300 before.. so its just going to continue on. but who knows for sure till its fixed i suppose
