@1ronKeys Everyone's ears are different. For me, the game has overwhelming lows when many abilities such as gibby ults go off. Removing these frequencies helped me a ton and I know others that said doing this made footsteps much clearer.
Also no-offense but telling people who are providing a solution for people that it is unnecessary isn't really helpful. It might be for you but there have been hundreds and hundreds of complaints about audio on this game. You know, like your many complaints about hit reg issues. I could respond to all of those with "Well I don't have any issues so it must be you" but that wouldn't be helpful to you.

@hayhor Respectfully... I didn't say it's unnecessary. I said it *sounds* extensive.
I even concluded by saying that I notice a lot of my teammates (either when alongside them, or spectating), don't seem to have the awareness I have to enemy sounds.
I did this to highlight I'm keenly aware others aren't great with audio
I speculate, whether this is to do with individuals themselves, whether they don't have "Good ears", listening to TV audio, listening out of a sound bar, using cheap earbuds, or potentially having audio difficulties with the game.
I'd assume majority is down to some of the user based issues. As audio is audio, if we have the same game with the same audio settings we should be hearing the same thing. The differences would then be down to playback device... as I stated I'm using CHEAP but quality devices. All <$100 probably around half that.
Audio is quite different to network/connection issues. Only similarity would be if audio is delayed due to network issues.
So again. I stated quite clearly my keen awareness that people have with audionawareness in Apex... but i speculate how much of that is down to user reasons and playback devices - my comment of "extensive" comes from my experience and knowledge of audio that if you're having to make all those adjustments it's likely an issue with user or playback.

- hayhor1 year agoHero@1ronKeys Thanks for clarifying. I expect this stuff affects more users than most realize though. This is why many items like Sonar has presets specifically aimed at shooters and footstep audio. Even the PS5 has presets that go with the Sony PS5 headset.
- 1 year ago@hayhor No worries. I know how it can be.
I suspect users maybe chucking on cheap earphones or like their beats headphones etc or many probably just using their TV output etc.
And most headphones have quite wild and varying EQ response curves. I have no idea as to the quality of audio in "gaming headsets" but I don't expect them to be too great at least at the budget end.
And I'm not sure how attuned the average user is into identifying audio direction, and the way some people play this game gives me the idea that most aren't paying attention to anything.
But as an audio professional, I speak that that audio *should* be the same for everyone. And if it's not I would largely put that down to playback devices. (For example I have an enjoyable pair of commute headphones, bass is big and punchy, but I lose some specific Midrange elements quite significantly... if I was using these for Apex I can imagine some sound or another will disappear.
My first Sennheissers seriously lacked bass... my second pair had nice bass but a very narrow sound stage. My AKGs have slightly more bass than my first but a really nice sound stage.
All these factors could definitely impact listening for specific cues...
I'd definitely recommend headphones with a flat response curve and a wide sound stage. I used to use the PlayStation Mic with voice chat routed to the earpiece but audio routed to the headphones made physical muting real easy ha.- OldTreeCreeper1 year agoHero+
While I have an audio pro here 😃
It's not really a huge task to dl sonar and to try the Apex preset. Would you be willing to try it and give your opinion?
Maby you could try it with your current headphones and perhaps with others you may have.
As I've previously mentioned, YoungTree noticed a profound difference using his heaphones with sonar.
I would really apreciate your opinion and any advice you may have for the community, on how to improve this audio workaround we are stuck with.
I'm stuck on console with a Soundbar, hearing issues like tinnitus, so nothing much I can do to hear Gibby tipp toeing up behind me. 🥳
