Hold up, so if it’s set to the max based off one player, and I constantly get matched with two obvious lower skilled players, how are they supposed to make a significant difference going up against pre-made masters. If this isn’t solid proof to anyone solo queuing being at a clear disadvantage from the get go, I don’t know what is. This is both enlightening, but very, very disheartening to read. Here I was all this time thinking it was a group average.
I'm curious what the fix is going to be. If they try to group premades correctly but keep them in premade lobbies, the queue time will go up. So I think you as a solo queue player may suffer more because you'll be seeing more premade teams.

@hayhor
I'm really hopeful at the prospect that this might make playing with my friends a less painful experience. It could potentially make it worse. So far this split, I'm just playing ranked with my friends so we are not 100% of the time put into lobbies against three kill grinding sweat premades. In any event, I'm very happy to see Respawn trynig to make an effort to actually fix some of the broken aspects of matchmaking. I hope they will devote similar attention to the problems in ranked.
My thanks to those of you who chose to actually discuss the subject of this thread, which is matchmaking. And I'm very disappointed in some people's choice to make this thread an opportunity to grind their axes about pro players and content creators. That response makes me disinclined to bring news of interest to the forum at all.- hayhor3 years agoHero@pandareno1999 Oh I'm with you. Anything that encourages squading should be embraced. My concern is it may hurt the solo q experience.

spot on post and I absolutely agree with you.
I really hope that they tighten up the SBMM so that equally skilled players actually play against equally skilled opponents in ranked and in Pubs.
Currently either being matched with day one players or matched against preds is not working for me. I am at best a mediocre player this equates to being at gold1/plat4 at best for me.

BTW for the last 20 people asking for Arenas MM balances, this is your chance. Better ask Samy about it.
- CCbathwater3 years agoSeasoned Ace@hayhor I don't care about premade teams. They're not the issue. As long as their combined skill lvl match or is lower than my soloQ team's combined skill lvl. It's only a problem when I get Mr. and Mrs. Fragment or teammates enrolled in the 200 dmg club, while these Diamond+ 3-stacking ******* are all in my lobby. Lobbies should just be fair, that's all that interest me. If I get two noobs, I should play a lobby full of "1 me and 2 noobs" teams, or at least within a certain parametre of my team's lvl. Just stop giving me two *** **** squishy guns in a Diamond+ 3-stack lobby!
- hayhor3 years agoHero@CCbathwater Yes that would be fine but let's say you're a 1 kd player solo queueing. A premade of those same skill players may kill your team of randoms just due to better communication. Right now most of the time those premades are dumped into higher skill lobbies.

Comms cannot be measured so I agree with @CCbathwater the measurables should be what is used.
Just because a team is three stacked does not mean they have better coms they could be using the game comms.
I have used the game comms many times with Randoms and that is great but all in all comms does not help all that much if you are a great player and are teamed with two low skilled players whether 3 stacked or random.
The measurable skills should be what SBMM is about.
- Gabrielmojo263 years agoSeasoned Ace@hayhor I don't think it's necessarily about pre-mades, but more so that it's solely based off one player.
If I'm a high Diamond solo queue player, my chances of getting matched with a master, or pred, are minimal as opposed to being the higher skilled player matched with two lower skilled ones.
That being said, 8 out of 10 games, I'm automatically babysitting two teammates just because I'm a solo queue player with decent skills at Apex, no wonder the solo queue experience is a chore 80% of the time.- hayhor3 years agoHero@Gabrielmojo26 Snipe specifically complained about premades. The dev specifically responded to snipe about how premades are defined. The post is about premades. My comments are how the change may affect solo queuers. It may be a negative for solo q.
Season 13 the pubs MM was a lot stricter the first half for solo queuers. I myself had better teammates but the lobbies were significantly harder because everyone in them was diamond and up. For some reason they changed it back later in season 13.- Gabrielmojo263 years agoSeasoned Ace@hayhor So what you're saying, is this SBMM format, and tweet from Samy, is only applied to pre-mades, and not as a whole for both solo players and duos being matched as a squad?
Cause I'm under the impression he's talking about SBMM for everyone here, not just pre-mades.
