@Quixidion
This problem is actually worse in other shooters though. Even though my pubs are crazy sweaty, my Arena pubs are even sweatier—other games like CoD and Halo have SBMM more akin to Apex Arenas.
The devs/publishers’ goal is the increase the likelihood that lower to average skilled players win— this is because they are the largest player demographic. The misconception is that SBMM is about “fairness” and its not. SBMM is a tool used to increase the likelihood that lower to average players are primed to spend money.
High ELO players are already going to spend money. They are hooked. That’s why no one cares that the game isn’t as enjoyable for them.
It’s December 2021 and I am still struggling to win my pubs. Pubs feel like Diamond Ranked. No one cares though lol. SBMM algorithms are only going to become more nuanced over the next decade or two. So I totally expect the notion of “casual gaming” to phase out for multiplayer games.

@Sand_spitterthat's how pretty much almost every game does it
- 4 years ago@damsonwhufndthis Yes I know, every live game at least. But we don't have to stand for it. Why do we? WE ARE THE DECIDING FACTOR yet we still go along with it like a bunch of mindless sheep. And the people defending it are either bad players or mindless sheep themselves, trying to justify their own shortcomings as OK. No one should ever be punished being good or better than average in any game.

@Sand_spitterit's for engagement, for some reason people play game longer when they are treated the same way they treat gamblers in casinos
so you lose but occasionaly you win, the aim is to make wins special, make you long for the wins, so you play more until you win, you get dopamine hit
you know, oversimplified addiction cycle
