Is there matchmaking in ranked arena or is it just random ?

I don't understand how ranked arena works, we won 7/10 placement matches but when we started playing with our ranks (silver 1) we got deleted 3-0 four times not even close. Tf are we supposed to do ? I mean if those people really are silver (which I REALLY DOUBT) then our placement matches should put us as bronze...

    @MrPalissewelcome to Apex Legends, where at the end of the season, your rank reward is a charm, holo with your rank, dive trail if you get high enough,

    And a VIP ticket to bronze or silver (maybe gold)
