Maybe you are an expert hot dropper or someone who first engagement gets a couple kills but gets instant 3rd partied because the fight was a poor decision. Placement points matter more than early KP. I too have a friend that has a KD of around 1.2 and he makes diamond every split, tho he typically plays ranked later in the split when less preds are still lower. Rogue, who is an expert at how to get ranked points has a KD around 3.
