Its not just Apex Dieing its all FPS games

Its finally happening

All fps games are in decline negative growth

and its because of the lack of developer integrity and greed

We now play online FPS games in a culture where Smurfs and mainly cheaters are the pretend boogy man
They do token ban waves every once in a while and they hate doing it because 30% of the player base is cheating and these guys all have disposable income (Cheats aint cheap)
They spend money on cheats then they spend money on the game

Dev companies at the end of the day are a business multi million/billion dollar companies and they are all ran by the absolute worst people in the world, Shareholders.
Asking them too end rule breaking is literally like asking them too cut out a HUGE chunk of a games revenue..

It aint just Apex its all of them Apex, Rust, Fortnight, Tarkov, COD blah blah blah ALL OF THEM
Every single time you see them taking a step against the rule breaking community its just a white wash. They could deliver the killing blow too rule breakers tomorrow but they wont for the reason I have just explained too you.

But the chickens are coming home too roost!

You see most of us actually have integrity and we aint about too start cheating too compete because its literally the most base pathetic thing we can think of its literally dirty I couldn't look at myself in the mirror if your reading this and your a cheater whatever way your justifying it too yourself is nonsense your SKUM pure and simple!

As I said the chickens are coming home too roost and silent majority is beginning too get really sick of it.

Thus FPS as a genre is n negative growth and decline and this will continue until something concrete is done, maybe they will if it continues too decline maybe they will fix the cheating problem if it continues but don't kid yourself they will probably band aid it and let it drag on cos like I said cheaters have disposable income cheats aint cheap!

I started FPS games with Duke Nukem and UT99 25 years of loving this game type what I wouldn't give too have things go back too the way they were when it was fair and cheating was stupid easy too see and they were ground under heal instantly now its all ai assisted, or ESP impossible almost too see when watching.. the devs know exactly who's cheating tho they just don't care..

ide say from my personal experience the last 5-7 years is when its really took off, I mean really! 7 years it wisent anywhere near as bad but it was noticeable now the only way you don't see it is if your blind!

30% of the player base let that sink in boys and girls every 10 people you see in a FPS game 3 of them are cheating in some way!

I'm just done at this point its ruined I cant even remember the last time I played a game without some oxygen thief in there ruining it for everyone else in some way, be it smurfing, cheating whatever

Find a new genre bois its all down hill from here.

@reconzero Certainly. GTA 6 trailer is coming out today and its one of those so anticipated games that if they come up with something completely new it will certain turn the whole gaming industry trend towards something else. Also nothing beats a good single player story (GTAs, Witcher 3, some of the Assassins Creed games, RDRs etc).

I think the PvP element related dopamine addiction is a thing with the younger generation. So much and immediately. I like to take my doses in smaller batches and find that feeling of success in smaller things like hitting a good shot or finding a great angle for particular situation. If the games are not going my way today I play something else and try again tomorrow. Other end of the player spectrum you see these people coming here to complain how they are feeling miserable for not yet securing a 20 bomb in the past 2 weeks even though they grind 6 hours a day. And therefore they think MM is a  problem or cheater problem is out of hand (not saying it isnt but you get the point).

Also besides good AI I think variety is the solution. Mixtape offers some but not enough since its still PvP. When I dont feel like having a shootout in RDR2 I go hunting or treasure hunting etc.

Lets get some more campaigns and single player games at this point. Bring back the PvE era.

Its all I have left as an old guy.

PC players are leaving, thats a fact, and my bet is : its mostly MnK Players.
Adding Cross Progression without an OptOut for Crossplay based on Inputtype isnt a good idea, and now they slowly pay the price.
Honest Controller Players dont like to play MnK Opponents bcs of the Movement Advantage, and honest MnK players dont like to play against assisted Aiming.
Also the Matchmaking not working as advertised make people leave, Players are fed up getting low level bots as mates when they got promised the skillgap wont be that large anymore. I predict the average number will be down to 120K until Christmas, "The Finals" will start in a couple of Days, and troves of MnK Players will just move on.

@r1ggedgame I think you are right on this one. I might even go one deeper that its purposefully done 4D brain move to weed drive the bitching and black cloud MnK players out for a nice enviroment for console kids. As a EA/Respawn business manager thats how I would explain it to the board to gain best profit.

Out of my sons school/footie friends none play on MnK. Yet everyone plays games. For example my son got over 100€ worth of gift cards for Xbox store from his buddies on his birthday.
50% was spent on some new game (Fifa or something) and 50% went on Fortnite V-bucks...

"And again, beating something that doesn't exist as opposed to your fellow man. Different feeling different meaning."

If you were in a "bot" playlist, then yes, I could see how that could work. But what if you were in a playlist that mixed real players with AI and the AI was so good, so inconsistent and unpredictable, that you couldn't tell whether you were being shot at by a person or a CPU? If a developer could convince me on that playing field then I could happily go into AI-only playlists and never come back out. Maybe that's just me though. There's no wrong answer here - I'd just like to see the computers get so good at mimicking people that I couldn't tell the difference.

    @hayhor

For a long time I thought I did too. By the time Guardians came out, I played through the campaign one time, enjoyed it, but never even went back to it for a second go around. Infinite came out and I didn't buy it until forge rolled out and I still haven't played the campaign. Probably never will? Not sure if that's a commentary on the quality of the newer stories, or on my evolution as a gamer. All I want to do anymore is forge. And I'm not as enthusiastic about that as I might have been.
  • Epic Games just comes here for ideas or what?
You guys seen the new Lego Fortnite collab? Basically PvE variety in a BR shooter.
Apex dont really stand a chance.

PS. It doesnt matter if you are not interested in Lego or Fortnite. Its the kids who spend the money on the game who EA/Respawn should target for Apex to stay alive.

Once the money stops they will just pull the plug. Big company business.
At the moment twitch viewers Fortnite 240K vs Apex 42K...

  • @I0Report0Smirfs I can't agree. Still plenty of people in my 2042 lobbies. I mean it depends on the mode & time of day, but it's still very much alive & well on that game.

@Lord_Scorpion34 Yeah there is a small but very active community around Quake Live (came out 2010) as well but its 100% run by playerbase. Apex is just too big to fail in that sense. There will be people playing the game in the future when its dead and buried but its going to be mostly custom lobbies etc in my opinion.

Servers are the expensive part so lets see what happens. Not really up to speed how does it work with Titanfall or the sports series. Does EA shut down the servers for the older versions of sports games or what happens when new version rolls out?

@Airish85 "Does EA shut down the servers for the older versions of sports games or what happens when new version rolls out?"

Yeah, I think they usually get a run of like 4-5 years before having the server plug pulled. At least NHL. Don't know if something like FC get a longer run due to popularity.
