This thread is several years old. I will lock it, but feel free to create a new topic. Thanks.
This thread is an obvious attempt by the community managers to push the blame onto players. As if technology hasn't advanced and made it possible to gain details without a leak possibly by other means. Second 2fa is not a requirement by EA nor were long time players prompted to set it up. therefore it cannot be put on the player for not what you say "taking it upon themself". No It's your job to keep the game secure and definitely a job from a legal standpoint to verify sensitive payment data doesn't get leaked. Yes we agreed to the EULA but you also wrote it with the intent of upholding your end. My account was hacked over a year ago. I got off one night and the next morning everything was changed from my email which was changed to random letters at random numbers.com, to sensitive information like passwords. They even managed to open almost english customer support threads once EA locked them out.they managed to ban me AFTER THEY BROKE THE USER AGREEMENT SOMEHOW. I regained access 3 months later changed everything and finally set up 2fa but it was too late. I've been banned for over a year now Masters account almost 10k hours and not to mention the thousands I spent on skins and packs over the years being a prerelease player. And no I have never boosted or payed for anything to enhance my account. Period.
It's heartbreaking but I'm still fighting for hope and constantly trying to get unbanned. I get the same message every time "after reviewing blah blah blah we will not remove the restrictions on your account no further action will be taken"
I wish there was but 1 soul that worked for EA with a heart. People like me don't deserve to be pushed under the rug and told we should have done better. I loved Apex and it really got me through a lot. Ever since it's been an empty pit in my life and I hate even thinking about it
Community managers please just know I am upset and clinging on to hope so you can understand my frustration, I'm sorry for any disrespect

@T732232This has everything to do with Origin and or steam. In order to access your accounts most times they would need access to your email it self to reset said password if it was reset.
Another thing people dont understand is when you have been hit with a keylog or a memory injector then every single password you have on google saved is now in their hands. Some trojans so well made even malware bytes and such wont even pick it up.
So when someone has been hacked its due to normally link clicking. All it takes is 1 click on the wrong link even if masked to look exactly like the site it shows. Such as someone can edit a header on their browser and lets say your into dogs. You have a special dog website you always go to. The hacker figures this out creates a special link click that directs you to the website you think your going to about the dogs. Little does this user know they just allowed them access. All they got to do is mask a site or link to something you like they know you would click on and boom they are in. - E9ine_AC4 years agoHero+
I'd like to add some of the false banned accounts have been getting restored when its investigated. Consider the original ban the system doing what its designed to do and ban those cheating. Because lets face it your account was banned for cheating due to someone logging it in and cheating on it. So the system is working.
Apex accounts are hacked for few reasons. The older the better the account then they are less likely to be reported for cheating over players thinking omg this dude is just amazing. Even season 1 preds accounts have been compromised as well as big streamers such as LuLu. as mentioned above there are many factors that leads to this happening.
The company provides a vast amount of security options to ensure this cant happen to its users. They cant force the users to set up everything in place though. So the blame is not on the company for a user not securing their accounts when the options have been there for ages. So on one hand i do feel bad for being hacked for some people on the other hand all i can think is this could of been avoided had you took 30 seconds to set up more security.

Apex is just a game on your Origin, or Steam account.
How can you access apex account without hacking Origin/Steam account?- EA_Kent4 years agoCommunity Manager
Hey everyone,
As others have pointed out, in order to access another person's account in Apex Legends someone would have to gain access to the Steam or Origin account itself. This can happen a number of different ways, including phishing, social engineering, or login data being leaked. There haven't been any recent data leaks on our side, to my knowledge.I've personally had my Steam account compromised before, and it was my own fault. I was irresponsible and had used the same password on the account for far too long. I had also used that same password for other websites in the past. I had 2FA on my Steam account, but I disabled it when I got a new phone because I was having trouble logging in. I forgot to turn it back on, and one day I get a text from a friend because someone was on my Steam account sending him a link to a sketchy website. I'm not sure if I unknowingly entered in my password on a phishing website, or if maybe my old password was stolen from some other site, but they got in my account.
We have systems and checks in place to help keep accounts secure, but those can only go so far if someone gets your login info. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Don't re-use passwords. Come up with a new one every once in a while. Don't share your account with other people, because who knows where they're typing in your login info? Also, make sure your authenticator is always active. If you turn it off, get it back up and running ASAP./Kent
- @T732232 Simple reason is that they gave their account information, including password.
They must have used cheats, looked up cheats on dodgy websites, and so forth. Unless the EA server database has been breached (?) they would not know your login information anymore than a stranger would know you play Apex Legends. - @SlivPTS
Dude, why are you so in denial?
I'm not gonna argue with someone that denies something so painfully obvious.
I'll just say there has been so many cheaters with high levels, skins & heirlooms etc. lately. You would think they would atleast create an alt account, right?
Also this has nothing to do with origin or steam. - @T732232 So its Origins fault not Apex's.
- @T732232
So you believe everyone who says that his account was hacked? Yes there can be many cases where someone was hacked, but cheaters make this problem look bigger then it actually is. Cheaters are liars and first thing they usually do is search, read and comment in ban topics.
By the way, to get access to Apex account hacker must hack Origin (or Steam). Few months ago they added option to play Apex on Steam and as i understand this problem with "account was hacked" is recent, right?
Maybe there is some connection?
