@Palette24carats As I said before there are times where you don't want to play with anyone or none of your friends are on. I'd much rather have Solos Ranked than Duos. Duos can also be harder to place because it's 60 teams instead of 30. I'd rather take my chances in solos where it's me against 30-50 people & if I run into someone I know they don't have a teammate not far behind also trying to take me out (yes I'm aware of the teaming allegations that were in solos).
And honestly at this stage in my play I'm not looking to look for new friends to grind ranked with. I tried it in the past. Some of the people I never even got to play with. If I meet some people in game & we're on the same page & like each other enough, that's one thing, but actively trying to find friends to play this game with, I'm good on that.
In fact I've started limiting my time on team based games altogether because the matchmaking & decisions I've seen tms make, plus the overall power of my opponents is not mathing for the majority of my games.
I'd be way more inclined to give Apex more time if they brought back Solos & gave us a ranked version as well.
