Investigations by the exclusive ace and another guy into COD's Sbmm found that it based on your last few games, about 5 games I think they said. Have you had those lobbies where you're lagging all over and literally can't play the game? Lobbies where you empty a mag into someone, get no hit markers then instantly die? Or lobbies where every player you kill is a potato and you romp through the opposition and win the game?
So say there's 6 level's of Sbmm (for sake of argument, I have no idea how many they are). Not even a potato is the fist level - say 10%, total potato is the next - 20%, then potato - 30%, potato with ketchup - 35%, and finally just the ketchup 5%. So when you're on a streak you end up in the ketchup lobby with the top 5% from their last 5 or 6 games.
When you're in that 5% lobby you're not going to be with players in your region because their isn't enough of them. I've expiremented with this playing Battlefield playing in different regions and recording the footage, playing with a mega high lag say 250ms on an African server you can see the players aiming and shooting behind you. I did this because I was playing with 28ms on European servers and having real trouble with players in my lobby who had pings above 150ms, your hit markers wouldn't register then you'd receive all the damage in one packet, causing you to instantly die.
So that's my theory, although it's just a guess. FWIW I hate Sbmm, it makes the game harder to win the better you get. It means the better you get the more often you're in servers outside your region or playing opposition with massive lag.

Activision patented the SBMM which modifies hitboxes size and accuracy of players.Hi, yeah these were the videos I watched. I know Eight Thoughts did one but his channel got deleted. I think 402Thunder did one too but I can't find it. Is that real then, that is an actual patent? I guess if it's a patent then Apex wouldn't be doing exactly the same thing but could be doing something similar. Very weird and kind of spooky, manipulation on that level. Why do it? I can't get my head round it.

Found the patent,
0077] The modification of the gaming parameters is based on the skill level of each player. In embodiments, the modification of gaming parameters is executed in real time during a gaming session. In embodiments, the modification of the gaming parameters are executed on a player-by-player basis, based on their skill levels, which may be different for different players. Therefore, the online multiplayer gaming environment generates a gaming environment within which two or more players can play cooperatively as a team within the same gaming environment of the same level of the same game and tailors the experiences in that gaming environment to the specific skill level of each player

EA has what is called EOMM. But Devs said it is not implemented in Apex.
I think the patent can be found a this link

I'm surprised that they would patent something like this and it wouldn't fall under the trade secret category.
