Absolutely designed to keep you playing for longer, and to hide BP progress behind clunky objectives. I've played for about an hour now (despite my better judgement) and normally that gets me up to at least level 5 through EXP and daily challenges.I'm level 2 from completing one weekly, and 7 stars, 2 of which I've earned through EXP, and 5 from completing dailies. That's 20,000 EXP through grinding. and I haven't achieved a SINGLE level. On top of this, they've removed the weekly "Do X amount of dailies for 1 BP level" x2 challenges. Good luck completing the pass to everyone who bought it (including me) because at this rate we're all going to have to pay for it.

@pastaclown Yep I commented in the other one, it's absurd high grind low reward. Like you I still haven't gained one single level.Steam addition was great, new map wild, new legend interesting. Then ya go on and make a bad choice like this, which says you don't really care about the casual player base. We spend money too! Or used to'=p

@pastaclownSaw this pointed out in the general feedback. Defo done to slow everyone down maybe due to being too easy to our "top tier" players? I wouldn't really be surprised. I'm probably gonna max it out anyway so I'm not really bothered in a way.
Edit: Two of my weekly challenges are 15 games as Giby and 5000 damage as Giby man that's trash xD

What developer goes, "The battlepass will be simplified (easier leveling and easier to understand what you need and where to get it) and more rewarding (more consistent levels, better rewards, etc. etc)". Then turns around and nearly triples the requirements for completing weekly challenges, doubles the requirements for dailies, AND makes them give LESS progress through the BP compared to previous seasons?
Scummy, greedy, profit hungry ones. That's who. Geoff Harrison and the entire Apex marketing team should be fired.

@pastaclown Don't rush to conclusions. Respawn & EA would only gain more with an easier to complete battlepass. That's why they simplified the challenges over time and allowed people to reroll them if they felt they're too grindy.

I'm expecting them to come up with some patches and announcements in the next few weeks. Stuff like double XP weekends or during certain LTM's, boosts or maybe make a star worth less than 10000 XP.

Yes it is pathetic what they have done. Played today something about 20 games and done all dailu quests. I got 1 lvl BP.
They made this for money. If you dont play every day doing dailys, if you dont spend many hours, you wont get those lvls.
But you can buy those...
EA they can monetize everything.
Shame.

@DoYaSeeMe What you say about making it easier is better for EA isnt necessarily true. I posted this on another thread but only EA has the data to decide.

Let's look at the BP two ways. First you can buy one and through completing never have to buy one again. EA doesnt get anything out of this unless you buy packs or event stuff. If the pass is easier, you wont log in as much.

Second option is the people that buy it each season and use the coins to buy packs or stuff during the season.

Which happens more? Only EA knows.

Then you need to consider engagement. Game companies (at least EA) have the philosophy that getting people to log in every day will get them to randomly spend more on their game. By making the pass more daily objective oriented it forces people to play each day. The old passes did not require people to do more than 10 dailies each week for 2 levels. It appears now you need to do a lot more.

EA has been doing this type of thing for years in Fifa UT through giving people daily SBCs and content. And on that game they even have phone and web apps so even when not playing you can he engaged.

@hayhor Well, I see it from a different perspective. A harder to complete battlepass will shift efforts away from LTMs and discourage people from buying the battlepass early. The rewards given through the battlepass are usually designed to engage users in other spendings by giving them incentives. For example, if you see a very desirable skin that costs 1800 gold and you have only 800, there's a high chance that you will consider buying a coin pack or a special edition that. But if you're at 100 coins only, you'll be like "Nope, duck it". Less coins and crafting metals means less incentive to spend in collection events. More grindy battlepass means less interest in the LTMs that don't contribute much to its advancement. Legend tokens become even less useful and harder to sink, as players won't reroll challenges as much if they lose interest in advancing through the battlepass.

Incentives also work through teammates. When a low level player sees some high level, juicy BP skin showcased by a teammate, he feels encouraged to grind a little more to get it himself.

Anyway, we'll see. Haven't met Horizon and Olympus yet.

@pastaclown This tracks with what the in game screen shots from early access indicated. Basically, you will have to play more days per week now to achieve the same progression results as last season. XP and Daily challenges are not as rewarding on a day by day basis.

Good thing I had already decided not to do this season's pass lol.
