Next gen version VERY VERY SOON!

4 weeks ago, I posted that the next gen version of Apex was datamined in the playstation store servers already with an 80gb download (https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Next-Gen-version-now-on-PS-Store-sort-of/m-p/11191532/highlight/true#M195711)

Now, the PS5 version has been rated by the ESRB and was also rated in the EU for both the PS5 and the XSX. Not sure if this is a placeholder date but the release date is stated to be out on February 8, 2022. If it doesn’t come out, an insider leak from iLootGames also said that a possible date (if it doesn’t come out on the 8th) is on February 18.

@Cheese9Man The ps4 update is already a predownload. If the ps5 version is out today it's not a predownload.

@hayhor It probably won’t go on top of our existing PS4 version but rather a new and separate version of the game altogether like the other PS4 games with a PS5 version.

@Cheese9Man Yes I get that. I'm saying I checked the store and you cannot predownload it.

@Cheese9Man I would like unlocked framerate up to 120 fps but ideally without sacrificing current resolution (1400p).

My update size right now is 73 gigs on Series X but I think that is more due to the additional maps on rotation than anything next gen related

@Cheese9Manbut in this case, the ones who are playing the PS5 and xbox X version will not be able to play with the other console as it will be considered as a different title, also there might be a problem with transferring player profiles ( saves and progress ).
a lot of games added the new-gen resolution and framerate within the same version of the game and unlocked as an option, warzone, Fortnite, and rouge company, and I strongly think Apex should be the same otherwise it's gonna be a mess

@maximas1986 Consoles will maintain crossplay. I see no reason a ps5 version would change that. There are games that have ps5 versions that do this.

@maximas1986 Its annoying that they can't make an Xbox one the same pool as the Series consoles as standard, I bought cod vanguard the enhanced version but if you turn off cross play can't find a match so have to play a very dated looking last gen version of the game just to stop me needing to turn off cross play and play vs PC players.

@CAGOA34 Cod and apex are completely different in how they implement crossplay. Apex console only is all consoles. Cod xboxers don't have a console only option that includes PS players. Cod people are forced with PC.

BF 2042 was similar in tha crossplay on was everyone. Crossplay off was only your actual console.

@hayhor Yeah for now but that may be changing with the direction the latest releases are taking, they're just throwing us all on a pool together with cross play on, certainly the case for call of duty and HALO.
