I definitely subscribe to the "good position" school of thought. I've won many matches on position alone.
"Stick close" I have a lot of problems with. I almost always drop alone because I think it helps build a valuable skill set - staying alive by avoiding unnecessary trouble. Unfortunately many of my squadmates have a different philosophy. I guess where they see teamwork I see crutch. It is what it is.
As to the opener, wins or kills, the correct answer is wins. This isn't Halo.

@reconzero Focus firing is a great tactic for wiping squads. I've been on the receiving end of this way too many times 😅. While I get TMs who want to do whatever they want or play with 0 tactics lol.
I think it's best to establish what formation to run in. You do a wedge, "V" & several others, but ultimately communication is the best tactic whether by mic, ping or chat.
