Old Ways, New Dawn, Bad Idea

Seriously, who okay'd this? On the surface, it sounds fun and harmless, but when you dig a little deeper, this mini Event/Story Mode thing is a bad idea. Or, rather, an idea that's executed poorly.

In Order To Do This:

1. You need to play a specific legend. Great, let's hope my random teammates don't just snag BH out from under me.

2. Be on a specific map. Hey, missed your chance to play on WE? No problem, just wait multiple hours to try again.

3. Be in specific locations. This has two problems. One, enemy teams who know where the story locations are, will camp them and kill you, just to be jerks. Two, your BH teammate might go way off on their own just to complete the Story thing.

These "find lore during a match" things have always been a terrible idea. But this one is even worse, because it requires a specific legend, and with 3 maps in rotation, you can spend literal hours just waiting to try and do it. Then, of course, there is the issues that have always been there with all of these. People in this game can be huge jerks, and they will camp these areas just to get free kills. Not to mention who wants their teammate(s) flying or running off (leaving you 1v2, 2v3, etc).

The devs want to do this stuff, it should be done in the firing range or on a PVE map (like the quests in season 5). Away from people trying to grief you, away from people who can take your legend or leave you high and dry while they go find Arena Holo Sprays or gravity lifts, or chase a freaking bird. Putting this stuff in the middle of a PVP match is ridiculous and they shouldn't do it.

@JonStriker126 I’m right there, with ya.. These NEED to be PvE. Full Stop.

The reason Past Teasers work in PvP (I know they aren’t quests, but they are completed in the same manner) is because they are just quick 1 time interactions, not actual tasks to complete.

Having a Mission/Task to complete, that is this specific, making it frustratingly hard to complete without being beamed by other players.

@JonStriker126 The worst thing is that they have just switched out W E in ranked, at least then you would have had the opportunity every single match.
I dont play play much pubs, i tried for an hour couldnt snag BH and gave up, i will wait till last minute to try and get BH and do them

@JonStriker126 Sounds like they need a better focus group or beta teams if they're even using them at all.

When I saw the leaks before, I thought that it was gonna be like the Season 5 PVE quests. I can’t be bothered doing this so if you want to immediately finish the challenge, here’s all the possible locations of the white raven.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be like the season 5 PVE as well. I ended up doing it, but it didn't go as smoothly as I wanted it to (Though it probably did go smoother for me than it did for others).

First, I had to wait 2 and a half hours to even attempt it (as the game was finishing KC and Olympus was up next in rotation). Second, the first game I tried it, The drop ship route was on the top of the map, and the story thing was way on the bottom. So, I didn't even attempt it. I didn't want to leave the game, and leave my teammates high and dry, so I played out the match. That took about 15 minutes. The second game, I got to the place and there was a BH near me. At first, they were chill, but about half way through me tracking the clues, they shot and killed me. Thankfully, my teammates did respawn me close by and I did finish it, but they got into a fight about 75 M away from me, when I did. I was able to get back in time to help them, but one did get knocked and the other one was in trouble.

All this, just so I could get 5 BP stars and eventually some BH packs, if I finish the thing. Kind of ridiculous. That being said, I know I have a better story with it than others. I know some people tried to do it for like a whole hour and couldn't for various reasons. So I'm fortunate in the fact that it only took me two games to get it done. But still, It was a big pain for a little payoff.

It’s even more than that. I gave up immediately when I got the raven and then was downed, and apparently that wasn’t enough to count. The raven has to get to go somewhere or do something.
can’t be bothered. And again, it’s fine in that another reason I’m wrapping the battle pass then taking a long break to try and find better shooters

Yeah, I learned as you go, there are certain "check points", but if you don't hit the first one, you have to start again.

And I feel you about the better shooters. I'm waiting for Halo Infinite, myself. Worse comes to worse, there is Overwatch 2, But the earliest we're probably going to see that is next year.

Nahhh, you guys just need to gg 😈. In PvE, there’s no excitement and it’s just a chore/task to do, now at least there’s the thrill to die along the way! That’s what a shooter’s all about! The Call of Duty on the Battlefield for that Medal of Honor and not the Halo!

Also... nobody said you have to do it now. Of course now the risk is higher to die. Everybody does it, just wait a couple days if you think the heat is too hot, then, just like new POIs, there will be less ppl grieving, less others attempting the same etc etc
