IIRC, ranked lobbies are split between Console and PC, so this makes a total of 1500 preds per season.
Assuming 60 players per lobby and there are 2 preds in each lobby, 87000 players would be in a lobby with a pred.
Of course these players don't know this unless they die to them, so the total number could be drastically lower, but I don't think it's a super low number.
Anyone with a pred badge will also be called out as a pred in their lobby, even if they were one 10 seasons ago.
Let's calculate the amount of unique predators there would be after 10 seasons.
((1500 × 0.2) × 10) + 1500 = 4500 unique preds per season.
Same thing with 2 preds in each lobby with a total of 60 players per lobby, would yield 261000 predators.
Of course it depends on how many unique predator players there are, and whether or not someone got killed by them and if they posted about it.
There currently is also an ongoing bug where some users might have a pred badge despite them not having earned it, so this can also boost the amount of "preds" encountered by players.
I do agree that it's unlikely that a lot of players are encountering preds, but if they did see a badge, then they aren't really lying.
It's important to keep in mind that players posting on reddit and other platforms may only be a small fraction of the playerbase, so it's entirely possible that only this specific fraction is affected by it.
Matchmaking does have it's good and bad times, if players are being matched with Master+ players despite them being Gold, then it won't really result in a great gaming experience.
There definitely are issues here and there, but yeah, players sometimes make issues look bigger than they actually are.
