In any game, if you have a character who's abilities let you solo versus a character who's abilities really need a team to take advantage of, people are always going to pick the character you can solo with because playing with a team is both harder, and a ton of people think they can play lead guitar, when they can't, essentially.
You can tell an Octane or a Pathfinder who plays with a team versus one that runs off and overpushes, thinking they're going to 1v3 or 1v6 everything, in maybe 15 seconds after the drop. I'm not coming down on Pathfinder or Octane, but I honestly don't think their abilities are OP or need to be nerfed. What they are, is overly chosen characters because of how people play games.
If every single character only had abilities that could help a team mate and not themselves, it would hardly be better. There'd be even more throwing, probably, and a lot more blaming and finger pointing. Apex is fundamentally a team based game, and every time some * decides to leave the jumpmaster for an entirely different section of the map, or runs off a mile without waiting for other team mates, then they're making sure they lose, and you probably do (but you can still 2 team way better than the solo idiot). At least Pathfinder leaves behind his line for your team to catch up, if you want to chase the crazy.
I'm more down on that Apex doesn't have a good way of dealing with these people. Reporting systems by players do not work. it's really up to Apex to make a game which discourages running off even more. So a nerf, no not so much. But yes, I could see a fundamental change in the abilities of Octane and Pathfinder so they require your team to work with you more. What that would be I have little idea, but the problem to me is obvious.
