Ping never matches up to server

The server at the main menu says i should get 20-30ms ping but in game it says my ping is 60+ every single time. Why is that

@Benchwarmerbrew The first to blame for high ping are the ISPs usually. It doesn't matter how close you live to the server, as you're not connected in a straight line with it. Your routing can easily go through a different city or even different country and that is your ISP prioritizing other services, mitigating congestions or simply not having access to certain routes (matter of deals, contracts, etc.).

Other games can go fine, though. Why? Because many of them have servers in other locations, use less badwidth, don't require very quick reflexes, use a peer to peer or client autorithative solution, etc.. That's why comparisons don't really make sense.

@BenchwarmerbrewIt's laughable how people are trying to defend poor, old and dead apex legends. I have never played a game with worse servers then this game. I have the same problem as you. The menu says 40 ping but I get 40 ping once in a blue moon and that for like 2 mins. I'm usually sitting at 60-80 ping with all the usual apex bs like massive no regs, lag spikes, no freaking sound on footsteps while they are literally 5 meters behind me, etc.
Then I get tired of pubs and hop into ranked and guess what: it must be so much fun getting your entire squad murdered by unlimited charge rifle beam of death cheat.
They can bring all the "IT" guys in the world to make a 10 page post on how their servers are fine and everything is fine and it would cost a gazilion amount of money for only slight improvement, so it's not worth it and the problem is actually on your side. Cuz here comes X and Y who sit literally face to face with the server and have their computers plugged right into the server and they say that everything works fine for them so it must be you who has the problem and you should do some troubleshooting.
Wake up people, apex is dead and if someone releases a game half as fun as apex but with none of apex's problems and with good servers, no one will ever look back, I'm telling you.

@Benchwarmerbrew You cant always go by pros ping. They jump all around on servers to avoid stream snipers and play with friends around the world. And when they die, they need something to blame and lag is the easiest thing to say.

In my personal experience my in game ping ranges from 20 to 80 when I connect to my closest lobby server. This is because matchmaking prioritizes speed of finding a match over everything else. Because the US has a lot of server locations you can end up connected anywhere. Do I get weird spikes sometimes? Yes and sometimes resetting my modem or console fixes that issue. Sometimes it doesnt. But overall my connection is pretty good, even when I connect to another continent at 120 ping on purpose.

I live in IL and use Iowa or St Louis servers. It says i should get 20-30 ping. I get 50-60, sometimes 70 ping. I moved my server to South Carolina across the country and now im getting 40-50 ping
explain that one
