so a huge portion of platinum 4 players are people that belong in gold but got lucky, they know they’re hard stuck in plat 4 so why bother trying to play for the win, all they care about is hot dropping every game for some early kills, treating every ranked game like pubs
they’ve got their desired rank so now it’s time to stop tryharding and just have fun, kick back, relax and ruin any other teammates chances of winning
I’ve played ranked a good few hours today and the majority of games have been my teammates wanting to push every fight they saw even though there’s still 16/17 squads left, dying instantly then leaving me to try and 1v3 or run away and try and survive by myself
I play ranked for the win, to try and gain as much RP as possible, as do most people serious about ranked mode. But it’s impossible when you’re constantly getting paired with plat 4 players who just don’t care because they’ve literally got nothing to lose so “why not try and push every fight?”
or more realistically just remove the ridiculous noob friendly tier demotion protection and give these players a consequence for their actions
I don't get your post at all. It feels very contradictory. On the one hand you're talking about how bad teammates are but on the other you want the tier demotion protection removed? True, they wouldn't be "hard stuck" in plat lobbys but I wouldn't wanna be F'ed over just because of idiotic teammates that play ranked like its pubs. I don't wanna be stuck grinding RP because I'm bouncing between ranks and don't give me that whole "you're a silver player, you don't belong in my lobby" excuse/reasoning because it's not a good enough explanation.
Removing the protection would potentially do more harm than it would do good. Everyone knows how cancerous it is to play ranked with randoms that's why people avoid it unless they're 3 stacked as @Koochi-Q said himself.
Ranked is a nightmare in general. As you rightfully said the issue of noob teammates is ridiculous. The "improved" Matchmaking / SBMM is just the latest slapping on the bandaid to fix the big mf crack in the screen like it fixes all of our problems.

Rank is meant to test your consistency while playing against players with the same skill level as you. Players can get lucky and climb pass their skill levels rank and that is when demotion comes into play and bring them back down to where they "belong" or atleast until they get better at the game.- @Daze623 The only consistency in ranked is trash teammates. I don't want to suffer because I end up constantly getting 1v3'ed. So if I get into a slump in regards to teammates and can't repeatedly cover my entry cost I should get demoted? How does that make sense? Not everyone 3 stacks so that's not a viable solution.

I do get those teammates a lot too but when I get good teammates I usually take full advantage of it and drag them around to fights till we get 6KP and then we'd chill for the rest of the game.
Also if you get demoted cause of bad teammates those players will get demoted too sooner or later you'll end up playing with teammates that are decent at the game and those that aren't will still stay in lower ranks. Who knows how it will work out maybe I'm just used to rank that have demotion cause I did play a lot of LoL rank solo before playing Apex.
