Question on gaming monitor

Current gen console is capped at 60. I just upgraded mine and my kids monitors to new ones. The response time is definitely nice. I went for that with a good hdr monitor. I am upgrading one more monitor to a better one until next gen comes out. The biggest difference so far has been the clarity. Iron sights at 100 meters feels so much crisper on the new monitors. Any of the Asus 27 would be an upgrade in my opinion. You will notice the color saturation and if you open the fov  to 106 it looks like a whole new game. 

to put it in perspective after upgrading our monitors I went out and bought a ps4 pro just to get the best picture along with the framerates I could get for now. 

eventually will be upgrading to Oled, since they are coming along in speed I can’t wait for the chance to really get a 65 inch clear monitor with good response time. The latest is clocking in at 4 ms.

sorry about the long post but I have been researching this for awhile. Another good alternative is benq. I watched the Black Friday and cyber Monday sales and tbh they were not that good in this field. The prices have kind of stayed the same. In some of the larger ones they actually went up.

When you say the current gen is capped at 60hz.....are you saying that with a PS4 I wouldn’t be able to upgrade to 144hz?

Essentially upgrading to a better monitor would be a waste then with my ps4?

The 144 will have no bearing on a ps4.

It is only capable of 60.

If you are going to upgrade to next gen then yes it will. From what I have seen it will be set at 120 I believe. 

If you are using a standard PS4 look for anything faster than 5 ms. Also HDR and 4K will help with graphics. The faster ms time generally is to distinguish gray to gray. The other graphics will make dark areas more vivid. 

As far as lag hits no monitor or setup will fix it. It is client side lag, which has been discussed several times here. Basically you are not where you are on your screen on your opponents screen. It has gotten better. Perfect example you on your screen close a door and a magic kraber bullet kills you thru the closed door. Your enemy view would show the door still open hence you got shot through his open door. You die to a client side server issue, yours is faster his is slower. The system has to recognize which server is accurate.

I know way more information but we have all had to fight the rubber banding pathfinder. 

If it was me I would but the monitor just to see this game in full clarity. It made a huge difference in my accuracy across the board. No streaking or blurring and no lag in snapping onto targets.

I don’t plan on upgrading my PS4 anytime soon.  Still

running with a standard PS4 slim.  

Good to know that the hit registration issue isn’t just an issue with my connection but something everyone is dealing with here.  Suffering is easier when you know everyone is suffering to lol 

Yes without a doubt. The brightness and clarity of a new monitor cannot be appreciated until seen. Worlds edge pops off the screen. 

@fg1985bg1 ms response time could help, but it would be pointless to buy a 144 hz monitor when your console can't even run at 144 fps. If you don't have a ps4 pro, your current ps4 isn't running 60fps either so you might as well stick with your current monitor. Or you could go with a 1 ms 60 hz monitor if you really want an upgrade. It just isn't worth spending the extra on 144 hz when you can't make use of it.

I am using an asus vg279q with my Xb1s currently, the response time was definitely a step up for me (even with it being IPS) but it is only 1080p, but for me speed is a more important factor. I’m still on the fence of whether I will keep this monitor or switch to something else when I get the Scarlett next year. My wife wants something bigger so at least that is a plus 

I think I’m going to take the plunge and upgrade the monitor.  Even if the system is capped at 60hz, from what I’m hearing a newer Asus would still increase the visual performance and honestly I’m really having a hard time visually seeing some of the enemies at times.

Leaning towards sticking with Asus.  Wondering if people can even notice a difference between 5ms and 1ms response times?

Since you are playing on inferior hardware capped at 60Hz you should probably stick to 1080p monitors in a size you sit at optimal focal distance from.
