@HogynDrwgI started playing in the first couple weeks after launch. Similar spending for me too. I bought the BP for season 1, but didn't max out, so I had to buy season 2 as well, but I haven't paid for another BP since then. I have bought the Voidwalker skin for Wraith, and 2 times have purchased the $10 worth of coins to get 10 Apex packs, but haven't spent any money other than that. Last time I check the pack calculator, I should be over 400 packs by now? I should finally get an heirloom within the next 2-5 seasons or so, but it has kinda turned into a running joke for me at this point. I'm stuck outside in the cold, watching the party through a fogged-over window, Lmao. Exclusivity has definitely diminished over time, but that makes sense, given how they are obtained. I'll get inside some day, but I'm definitely not holding my breath
Better than last season, but that's not really saying anything at all. The new map was great, Ash is not nearly as bad as Seer, but still has reveal meta and teleport to high ground abilities. Ranked is a steady level of atrocious. All in all, though, a positive.
Still hasn't stopped me from moving on, though. Lucky for Apex, there's a lot of dumb out there in video game land. Speaking of, tried Smite for MOBAs, and it is SUPER dumb...but, having said that, is just a superior mechanical and team based game, if an entirely different kind of game. I hear the community is toxic too, but I don't care, I'm probably uninstalling it namely because the characters look so stupid. Particularly the things they add like Transformers and Avatar cartoon characters. I have no problem with these things normally but they don't belong in Smite...well honestly, it's a cartoon show now. Fortnite has turned everyone onto the idea, apparently, that you need everything from military guys, to Thanos, to a banana to make your game appealing (pun intended :P )
And then there's Warframe, which I have not bothered doing PvP with yet, because I hear bad things. Nevertheless, since Respawn apparently does not like to produce good games like another Titanfall, anymore, and get way more money from gamblers, it's not bad for a totes free single player and co-op. I had to get used to the aesthetic, but at least it is consistent.
I don't really think that the BR world has an answer for Apex, and that's why they've benefitted. Sort of like Apex isn't really a good game, it's just better than the other bad options. Media wise, Apex is still spot on, with incredible videos, and an aesthetic that is great. It's just that the game is not good, and you spend far more time loading it up and playing parts that are unentertaining, than the actual parts that are worth it. Total pigeon pecking for seeds kind of mentality.
Nothing really to do with Apex until the season ends, and I play it for yucks now. Again, every once in a while I get a seed, there was a good game won this morning with great team mates. It just, you know, took hours of suffering to get that 20 minutes of fun. I know Respawn won't change, or won't change fast enough (at their best), it'll be new character, reveal meta and vertical meta, some godawful map change, and some lame purchase stuff events coming next season. At least Stories from the Outlands is good, I might have to watch it again on Youtewbs.
