Rate Apex's 2021
Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!
Before rating the year that Apex just had, let’s take a quick rewind of what content we got and news that came with it in 2021. This is a long post so please bear with me.
*Got most of the info from the wiki and from memory so it's not a perfect/complete summary of the year.
I. FEBRUARY 2021 - SEASON 8: MAYHEM
Legend: Fuse
Weapon: 30-30 Repeater
Map changes: Huge plot of land added north of Kings Canyon, changed some POIs like slum lakes, Caustic Treatment Towntakeover
Other additions: Gold magazines, explosive holds, heat shields
EVENTS
Anniversary Event: Lock and Loaded takeover event where everyone dropped with a mozam and the starter kit (white shield etc) was being tested.
Collection event Chaos Theory: Introduced Maggie’s ring flares. It had a bad reception overall some hated the huge ring-ception concept and some hated Maggie as the announcer of the games.
War Games event: 7 LTMs that would rotate after every 2 days. In concept, they were great LTMs but in practice, was kinda meh and only 5 out of the 7 of the LTMs were working properly. There are some modes there that I would like to go back though.
Other news: Release of the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends
II. MAY 2021 - SEASON 9: LEGACY
Legend: Valkyrie
Weapon: Bocek Compound Bow
BR Map Changes: Icarus in Olympus
Introduction of Arenas: 3v3 mode where the goal is to eliminate the opposing team. First team to reach 3 points or first team to win with a 2 point advantage wins.
Arena Maps: Phase Runner, Party Crasher, Overflow
Other additions: Starter Kit (everyone drops with a white shield and helmet, 2 cells, and 2 syringes), deadeye’s tempo and shattercap rounds hop-ups, ground emotes
EVENTS
Collection Event: Genesis - We saw the return of the season 2 KC and the S3 WE.
Themed Event: Thrillseekers - cosmetics and 1 new arenas map
Arena Flash Events: Multiple weeks with event trackers that can only be finished by playing the new mode.
News: Huge influx of new players from EA/Respawn inviting popular content creators to play the new mode, arenas.
News: SAVE TITANFALL HACK - Apex’s playlists were hacked and was replaced with “SaveTitanFall.com” where it would link you to a website about the their cause to save the titanfall servers. This also happened on the 4th of July so a lot of American players were in a Holiday and could not play the game.
III. AUGUST 2021 - SEASON 10: EMERGENCE
Legend: Seer (was released super OP)
Weapon: Rampage LMG
BR Map Changes: Additional POIs in WE like lava siphon, climatizer, landslide, and Big Maude (Rampart TT)
Arenas: Added ranked arenas and a new map called Encore. We all know the biggest problem with ranked arenas and that’s the matchmaking and the RP system.
Other additions: Boosted loader hop-up
EVENTS
Collection Event: Evolution
Thematic Event: Monsters Within which brought back the Shadow Royale LTM
Arena Flash Events: Multiple weeks where event trackers can only be finished by playing arenas.
White Raven Story Quests - came out with mixed reactions since you have to play as BH and in an actual game with 59 other players. Overall it was a good concept but the implementation could have been better. Expect something similar in S11.
News: At the launch of the CE, apex had major server issues to the point that it was not playable for a couple of days. They even had to push the rank split for a week.
News: Respawn tried removing tap-strafing in the game and it definitely caused an uproar especially in Reddit and in the AHQ. Instead of getting mad at Respawn, people targeted controller players and there were hundreds of MnK vs Controller threads. What a precious moment in Apex’s history. Lol.
News: Apex reached the most number of players ever since it’s launch on 2019 for some reason. I don’t know why, but it did. LMAO.
IV. NOVEMBER 2021 - SEASON 11: ESCAPE
Legend: Ash
Weapon: CAR SMG
BR Map: launch of a new map, Stormpoint. Arguably the best looking map but people are generally split about it. Its size and the PvE aspect of the map were/are hot topics when discussing about SP.
Arenas Map: Launch of a new map (mid January)
Other additions: Dual Shell hop-up
EVENTS
Collection Event: came out with a recycled LTM, Winter Express.
Themed Event: Mid-january with a new arenas map
Story/Teaser event: Late January to tease the S12 legend.
News: Not much has happened in this season. The only notable things are a lot of the core developers that made apex has left and the increase incidences of boosting and teaming in ranked.

So from 1-10 (1 the lowest and 10 the highest and best apex could have been), what rating would you give apex?
I would give Respawn and Apex a 7 out of 10 this year. I think they’re okay but definitely COULD HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER. They really gambled hard with arenas being the next big thing but it didn’t get the traction that it wanted especially from me and I know from a lot of other people too. The servers were unacceptable during the S10 CE and the S9 hacks should not have happened. What I hate the most were the months where we would have no new content at all like at the end of S9 and S10. Unfortunately that would be the case still in S11 if you don’t like arenas. Respawn needs to step up next year.
