  • Is Apex dead? no.....not yet,& is Apex dying? unfortunately yes.And when even certain Apex Youtubers most loyal fanboys/girls cite troubles with the game & the declining player count then you know the game is in trouble. And when yet another of Respawns original devs (one of the last few left) has decided to quit then it doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude the game may be in a bit of trouble.

I speak as an Apex player since day 1 of the very first season who used to play every day up until about S15 & then my game time started dropping off to every other day & eventually with every new season even less time than that where at times I'd go a week or two without playing Apex at all particularly with S19.S20 & this season. The main crux of my frustrations & hence the reasoning for my dwindling game time lie squarely at Respawns either inability or ignorance to fix mainly of the games well documented problems/issues some of which have plagued the game since the games early days.Performance related issues such as dipping frame rates, slowdown, visual clutter (like muzzle flash that make visibility pretty poor), audio clutter. Then there are the server issues which also impacts the input lag & hit reg that can make the game at times seem like you are watching a badly dubbed film where everything seems out of sequence. Then we have game exploits with differences between playing on console & PC,as well as the cheating in the game that is far worse now than it ever has been before. As for the general match making thats seems to be getting worse toWhilst the game can be forgiven for having many of these issues in the early seasons but 3,4 or 5 years later to be still in the game is a lot less forgiving.

Whilst I certainly hold Respawn culpable & to blame in not identifying (with pro players, youtubers, forum members literally calling them out)& fixing many of the issues within the game.Respawn have no real budgetary control of Apex & so are merely the foot-soldiers for an unscrupulous boss in EA that seem content & anger fans by boasting about how many billions it makes it makes in revenue a year from Apex they seem to spend the very bare minimum on the game to keep it merely ticking over hence why the game is still running on the same troublesome servers & the same Unreal 4 engine it began with when most other games have moved onto the Unreal 5.I liken EA to that billionaire boss of a Premiership football club that doesn't particularly like football, isn't interested in what any of the fanbase thinks & so isn't interested in parting with any money that will improve the team & merely see's ownership of the club as being a cash cow.& when they get bored & even more hated by the fans they'll sell the club or run it into the ground.

And the main reason why I don't believe Apex is a dead game yet is because there isn't/hasn't been that rival game out for Apex players to move to yet. Pretenders like The Finals,Xdefiant,Helldivers 2 are all pretty good games in their own right aren't really Apex killers.Valorant on the other hand though could be the one though despite being on PC for a while is finally arriving on console in the next month or two & I've heard good things about the console version from people who have played the limited beta version.
