The objective of this game is die later then the others... not only kill the others... if you and your team managed to go negative in Bronze IV with 6 kills.. you probably died in a 14+ position... it's natural you get negative.
I reached Master last season, and also with the old system the only way to get points at high levels were to get a good placement... kills weren't enough.
I think the new system is better because it show the real skill of a player... if you want to go back to Gold, you should learn how to rotate effectively. In the old system, anyone who played enough could reach Platinum IV... and with a little skill also Diamond was possible. Now those ranks are more worthy to reach.
Your post is solid and I like it. However you are both right and wrong here.
Yes players will have to use more skills to rank up, Gun skills and game sense skills, as it should be. However due to the rework on the RP thresholds and costs the time needed to reach those higher ranks has increased significantly and not everyone has the time to make that grind and Time does not equal skill. This will basically mean that those players that have the skill to make plat or diamond may just be stuck in gold because they do not have 4 hrs a day that they can spend playing games to make the grind.
So what you are left with are hard core addicts, streamers/content contributors (they make money doing this) and Pro's that will make the upper ranks. I myself can make plat but now do to the increased costs (increased time needed) I do not think I will make it past gold, how fair is that?
Got the skills but just do not have the time. You know I have a life outside of Apex and gaming, wife, kids, Job etc.
- @Asmodeus566 Yes entry cost is higher, but you get a ridiculous amount of 'participation' points if your team somewhat knows what they're doing.
Fair enough on what you say about participation points. I still stand by my previous statement: there is not enough time for most people and time does not = skill.

I totally get what you're saying here, but this rework just makes the game less fun for most players.
In bronze it was effective enough to get a few kills and you would slowly climb, then it would gradually make you play better to continue climbing. I don't think you should have to know rotations, have solid aim, and be able to coordinate a team in bronze to be able to gain even 1 RP. Not every rank should force out masters gameplay because its unrealistic, and like @Asmodeus566 said, time consuming.
I worry this new ranked will scare away new players because its extremely punishing at low ranks. Like its scaring away me... 😂 We will see once the lobbies are fairer in a week or so, but I have doubts.Welcome to the forum. Nice Post.
Yes the new ranked system might be a turn off for new players but that is what the rookie rank is there for, to learn.
I do agree that the costs at Bronze should not be as punishing as they are right now for that matter silver also but by gold and above it should be harder just not as hard as EA has made it.
If I had the time it would not bother me because the skills are there but EA has made so that Time = Rank and well while some do not have the time.
All in all I feel that as it is right now EA is rewarding Apex players that have the time more than those that have skills in Ranked play.
You kids are missing 2 major plot holes here!
- Apex Legends hasn't dealt with the cheating problem, so if you think you have solid aim no recoil son your cheating
- Premade lobbies and Smurfs accounts are making this game so unfair. Hah there's no fun in Norms anymore
This new season was catered to the twitch streamers for obviously reasons. Most of them still cheat even with premade lobbies!
So since i have no time & patience & no solo queue, already decide to hang them up.
Obviously if you all have wife/kids and work. Guarantee you don't have the time to play all day. So spitting nonsense if you have all that and still get to Masters! I called those players living with folks still & unhealthily way of life.
An reasonable responsible Adult like myself would hanged them up I'm over 30+ My Game now is Eldern Ring starting to get the hang of it! ><

i managed to have time to play 10 games since the start of the season... now i'm 200pts to PlatIV... i don't think this is time consuming 3 full day passed... it's 3/4 games per day... plus some warm up in duo (1 or 2 games), i understand that still there is a big component of "how much you can play".. i also had this problem.. to make the master i decided to play the last split more than usual.. and got it with 400~ games, there is still this problem.. but it's not different from before... they just changed the name of the divisions... the old diamond is probably platinum now.. also the new game play is more Tournament like... i played some ALGS games.. and ranked now feels the same..as it should be.We want solos, they give us Streamer mode ranked.
- @nwevolution Nah bro, "real skill" is not hiding and waiting for other teams to die so you can get that placement RP. I got to masters last season by fighting my way up there, not by getting a few kills and waiting for a top 5. The system now rewards boring rat gameplay.
Like, who do you think has the most skills : the player getting 10 kills top 11 or the player getting 3 kills top 8 ? we both know the answerRat play was always ethically better than solo dump hot zone drop, getting 2 kills and coming in 18th.
That hasn't changed in this system and you definitely are not a better person for making your team come in below 14th.
I think there's this myth, by the way, that solo players ignoring their team mates do not get kills. Mostly fantasy. I get more kills alone than the duo I leave behind often do.
- @Abyssloli obviously the guy top 8 with 3 kill.. it's a Battle Royal not a Death Match FPS... if you want kills play titan fall

- @Abyssloli TBH, we change our rk method to play hide-and-seek and rat until top 10 and thrid party only. And we can RK up , what a shame
