- @hayhor Yes, your attackers, not those who got the kill. That's how I interpret it anyhow, but I'm guessing it's a little open to interpretation.
@EdwardDLuffyIt doesn't say your anywhere in the passive description. Streamers will have uploads today I think so we will find out.
If it is the way I think it will make 3rd partying much easier. lol
From the trailer, I'm leaning towards Ash being OP. And of course they want to sell them skins. lol.
Multiple things that were confirmed
1. The passive is global, the effect looks like the map room from KC. What if there are multiple deathboxes? Is there a timer before you do another one?
2. The tactical can snare multiple legends not just one.
3. The ultimate is like a one time use octane jump pad without getting shot mid flight, the casting time seems to be instant, you go to the other end of the portal faster compared to the Wraith portal.
- @Cheese9Man The passive is interesting. Curious to see how useful it really is though. I mean you have to come up to a deathbox to see who where the people are that killed that person, which doesn't necessarily mean you are finding a weak team. It could mean the opposite. And I assume if you get marked for death you get an alert.
Tactical and ultimate look good tho. That tactical should totally be wattsons.
The ultimate looks like a loba toss with a portal that can move the team. - @EdwardDLuffy Looks like my interpretation was correct. As you said tho. Anything written can be interpreted in multiple ways.

Not sure why one would say trash, Ash seems OP to me, anything revealing enemies is pretty good, think Valk along side Ash, and a way to get the entire team to high ground is always a good thing.
This is a really well rounded kit, that can be used in many different scenarios.
You've got a combination of recon interference and repositioning wrapped up in a mean simulacrum package. This isn't your standard respawn lackluster and niche legend that gets boring after a few days from what I can see.
I'm normally pretty Meh about legend releases but this one's gonna be good I think.
- @Gabrielmojo26 Who said she is trash?

@hayhorThe very first comment said trash, as in the OP's opinion lol

So which is Ash going to be?
I think ... trash.
- @Gabrielmojo26 Oh lol I guess at this point in the thread I forgot that prediction. Right it is is an opinion and no one is right. Even after release some will say trash and some will say OP.

@hayhor I also said somewhat, I kept thinking the passive revealed the remaining squadmates of the deathbox and not the attackers "it looked that way in cinematic trailer", also thought the tactical was limited to ground "saw it on youtube it can trigger on anyone jumping over or in valk's case trying to fly over", but I still only see it tethering 1 legend, not multiple. Ult doesn't seem to go through walls "line between it and wraiths are now thinner because teammates can use it, but glad it isn't as strong as I thought it would".
- @jaygates879 In the trailer valk is starting her takeoff. I really doubt it grabs people above a certain height. I need to watch some gameplay to really see it tho. Will do that later.
Saw some people doing some amazing stuff with the ult already. You can rotate building to building by using the ult through the windows.
- @Cheese9Man you can. as Aceu said. Ash will make Wraith disappear lol
- @WreckingVi From what I've seen I'd rather have a wraith teammate in ranked. And I'm sure top level will be the same. Ash looks more like a pubs player, though a good one.
@hayhor After research this tricky question, I found the answer:
Ash passive :
0. Mark new the death box in the whole map (for 3 minutes) so ash can easily know where is the killing happening.
Team mate doesn't see so you've to communicate with them.
1. If you interact with death box, it mark enemy team who killed the player, not their team mate (act like a detective/cop on murder scene)
So you cannot kill player then use the death box to find the remaining team mate.
2. Enemy mark only showed for 1-2 seconds on Ash map then you have to communicate and haunt them down.
Ash ability is keep by her so you've to communicate a lot.
- @asukojo I saw a video by Jmeyels earlier that explained it. He also went over wattsons changes. Thanks.
- CCbathwater4 years agoSeasoned Ace@asukojo Ash will be a random who doesn't communicate's dream character then.
After a week of Ash I am going to say ... trash.
I've had Ashs (Ashes?) in my squad plenty of times and only once has the 'deathbox mark' thingie even come up. One Ash suddenly said 'enemy there' but they were 200-300 metres away.
In around 200 games I've had the 'postion marked by Ash' message come up less than ten times.
Her tactical is just like getting caught on a rubber band for two seconds. Scary!
The phase tear is very hard to use and get right. I did have an enemy Ash just appear from nowhere, but she just stood among us an our squad was like WTF? for a split second before downing her. I also went through a phasre tear where the exist was two metres from the entrance. It's no match for a Wraith portal.
Fusey is also annoyed that his abilities damage himself, but Ash's tactical doesn't.
I expect buffs in the future as Ash's pick rate plummets. Maybe you can't use your weapon when ensnared?
My thoughts so far:
1) map scan - very useful on this map to avoid 20 min of no fight game, on the map like KC = useless, you can know/hear all the fights anyway, plus Ash sees only deaths which in many cases are way too late info - in higher ranked lobbies as soon as you see one dead body two will follow shortly and Ash by that time would have moved what...50 meters maybe.
Actually might be more useful to see actual fights going on or at least knocks.
Death icons just give a faint clue plus help to locate deathboxes on this map where you can easily lose them in the damn pink grass or other mystic vegetation.
2) tactical - if coordinated well actually is somewhat helpful, similar to Horizon ult. Yet it works as unpredictable as Horizon's ult sucking power especially when there are covers in the area = sometimes it sticks, sometimes it just does nothing.
I still don't trust either and am happy when it works out because the logics and dynamics in this game are incomprehensible e.g. how a small rock that covers maybe a foot can block incoming damage of a nade or arc star or these abilities, yet e.g. Causitc's barrel is equal to a thin piece of paper that gets blasted through no problem but at the same time can't be shot through. I guess I need to read more on quantum physics or something, just too uneducated for this game and its developers.
I would actually up the speed of this flying thing because usually it works only in close combat or on people that are just blind/blinded by the visual clutter of the map, otherwise you can see this thing coming, go take a *, come back and still dodge it, especially on this map.
3) ult - so far so good, except
a) you barely can hear it coming, the sound effect should be upped similar to a level when you choose Ash in a legend screen - so that port out blows out your eardrums even in the fight. Otherwise, it is just OP, no one hears or sees it coming. On that note also the visuals of the portal should be more contrasted similar to Wraith's portal that can be seen from miles away, this thing though... 100 meters tops if you know what you are looking at.b) visual crosshair of the ability should be more pronounced and accurate - most of the time I just hope the game takes me to the place I intended to teleport, yet most of the time I come way too short e.g. plan is to get behind the rock and the enemy but you end up in front and basically get f%#@ as enemy has still its cover and you are now in the open not able to port back - success!
I would almost want it to work not as a crosshair but via ping system e.g. activate ult, ping the place and it ports you there.
Also for me, a very confusing part is when I try to land say on the roof from a low ground - sometimes it seems that the port will be opened onto the wall based on the crosshair, but it actually opens on the roof as intended...
To sum up - not trash, a playable legend at least in this map, yet highly unreliable in all possible ways = late info, 50/50 tactical, scetchy teleport.
- @EdwardDLuffy Why does it either have to be OP or trash
For me she is balanced. Her passive isn't that useful unless you are close enough to get to the other people which is hard on this map. I have a feeling it will be more useful on the other maps.
Her tactical is easy to dodge at distance but a skilled ash knows how to use it. And getting stuck in it sucks when the player you face is skilled. Because they typically use it close where they can shoot you as you are stuck.
The phase tear is actually pretty solid in the right hands. Unlike wraiths portal she doesn't have to run the route. So good a good ash uses it to get to height or quickly rotate into good position.
Ash is like any character though, better skilled people use her better. And remember she has been out less than a week so people are still learning. - @hayhor Because that's the thread's title?
- @EdwardDLuffy Are you DZK? Is this why characters get buffs and nerfs that do not make sense?
- @hayhor rofl good one but I do agree with you here, Hayor. I think she's pretty balanced compared to other legends in the last season (except Valk). But I do understand why other people are saying that her passive is overpowered. I would like to see a radius change here so she can't see the whole map and that change would be comprehensible.
