Re: I... Don't think the battle pass is fixed.

@NaRnIaaa Only at the start of the week though and then it was 1 level every 57k.

Generally what I'm trying to say is the battle-pass doesn't give you the same burst of levels like it used to, you'll get more through daily play than before but less from the weekly challenges.

OLD:
3 daily challenges that would reward you with 3000XP/stars (15% of a battle-pass level)

NEW
5 daily challenges that reward you with 8 stars between them (80% of a battle-pass level)

  • Anybody else having problems with kills not being counted in the season 7 stats?

In total i got 92 kills, but only 63 are shown in the season 7 stats.

Sorry, itโ€™s not really topic related. I asked other people about this and they have the same problem.

  • @Cabowse  "Only at the start of the week though"  not really

    "OLD:
3 daily challenges that would reward you with 3000XP/stars (15% of a battle-pass level)" and 5 dailies give you 1 lvl, 10 dailies give you another lvl

Even if your mock up is correct, I still feel that the old system was better. Not perfect, but better. And the reason I think that is pretty simple:

A lot of people need that "burst" to even complete their passes, because of things like work or school or family activities or whatever. Some people can only play Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In the old system, that was 3 days to rank up XP (with BP levels starting as low as 9K), enough time to get the 5 and 10 Daily Challenge BP levels, and do some challenges for more XP/levels. You could "burst" through your pass in your free time and then do whatever you needed to do in terms of life commitments and still feel like you are rewarded for your time and effort that you're capable of putting into the game.

This system does *NOT* do that. This system requires *daily* participation for *hours* just to keep your head above water. And, if you don't live and breathe Apex Legends, you're just screwed. If you do not have the time to dedicate to this game, everyday, then you are forced to buy levels, never finish it, or just ignore the pass completely.

This pass only works for the more "hardcore" Apex players that either do it for work (streamers and YTers) or have a lot of free time to just sit down and play a game for hours and hours a day. That is not the case for a lot of people, and is probably not the case for most people that play this game, as "the casuals" usually make up a large chunk of games, like this.

So, yeah, personally I feel that this current BP design stinks for the reason I mentioned above. And I say this as someone who can dedicate the time needed to finish this pass, as is. But, I understand not everyone can.

Also, personally, while I *can* dedicate the insane amount of time that the BP demands, I really don't *want* to. It's a grind fest that feels unrewarding and far from engaging. If anything, the current BP system makes me not want to play *at all*, not play it *more* as Respawn hopes I will. Which was supposedly their intent for the Battle Pass changes, in the first place. Well, sorry, but that was a big swing and a miss, in my opinion.

They either need to go back to the old system (which still wasn't perfect) or they need to make some drastic changes to this one. Because, even with shaving off 5K per Star, this BP system still feels grindy as Hell. Here's hoping those "challenge changes" they talked about coming next week are actually good and make this all feel a lot better. Fingers crossed and all that.

(Lastly, I should mention that I say all this, not because I hate the game, but rather because I love it, at its core. As I have said in other threads/comments: this is the *ONLY* Battle Royale game I've actually enjoyed and I want to keep on enjoying it. But, things like the S7 BP system make that really hard to do. So, I hope some big changes for it are coming soon. Because I really do not want to play the game with its current system)

Fortnite tried to grind the battle pass a bit for a while but relented. There is no fun in a serious grind and humans respond well to reward driven action, less bunch's of 1's and 0's at the end of the day is still less.

@JonStriker126 Agree with what you're saying. They steal our freedom and try to make us become their "slave", it's abuse of power.

You know what will happen when somebody abuse their power, and don't listen what community want & scream, they will get kick out.

I watch streamer, snipdown and madness, those people play Apex for living, they play all the time since launched, reached predator but they only level 9 now.

That show how painfull to level up.

  • @asukojo

That's pretty bad. Holy crap. So, not even the "hardcore" gamers are getting very far on this thing. Ouch...

    @JonStriker126

In my personal opinion I think both systems are pretty grindy, I only got up to 110 last time in the last couple of weeks and I play for about 3 hours every day.

I think what is just grinding my gears at the moment is that everyone is posting about people not being very far in the battle-pass (even streamers) like it wasn't just as slow in the old system, because it damn well was! As soon as the initial burst of levels was over you wouldn't see squat for another week.

I agree with you that it puts the more casual players in a more difficult situation, but so far we don't know if there are going to be more ways to acquire stars over the season. You can actually pick them up every other day in the quest and nobody has really noticed.

  • Well, I'm already level 12 in the BP after 3 days of play, finished all these "difficult" weeklies and dailies so far. In all honesty, I don't find this new formula more difficult than the previous and I prefer this linearity and granularity. I did get the battlepass with coins right at the start, maybe the XP boosts helped a little (20%) .

  • @Cabowse

Well, as I've said in multiple threads this week, I have issues with the old BP system too, just not as many as this one. I even detailed the differences and what I liked/disliked about the old system, on one of these threads, just a few minutes ago. Sadly, I can't for the life of me remember what thread it was, as almost every thread I've commented on this week has had "Season 7/S7" and/or "Battle Pass/BP" in the title, and they are all starting to blur together for me. Lol.

But, on to what you said in your actual post. All in all, I agree with you and wish the old system was better too. There were some pretty grindy challenges that would only get you 6K XP and sometimes there was just needlessly specific and grindy challenges. Like dealing 10K damage with a Volt or 7.5K with a Wingman. They could have made those a whole lot better had they did something like "Energy weaoons" or "SMGs" instead of *just* "Volt". Same for "Pistols" over "Wingman".

Small things like that would have made the old system feel much better.

I will say though, while it wasn't perfect, I did prefer that "burst" leveling over this "grindy daily to keep up" system. As the first one was at least doable by almost everyone. But, having a daily grind system punishes anyone who has life commitments and doesn't live and breathe this game. That's my big problem with it.

So, yeah, I do wish that this system was much more like the old one. And I do wish that the old one was even better, itself. But I found the direction they should have taken, was to fine-tune and improve the older system, instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water and going with the one we have now. It was just too big of a change that feels alienating to a lot of people for many reasons. They would have been better off taking a familiar system than most people enjoyed, and improving it, in my opinion.

  • @Cabowse All I want is the old XP system back or something that gives similar BP levels per XP. I never do challenges either dailies or weeklies. Never cared to look at them. I play and my BP gets completed on it's own, and for some reason most of the challenges too(7/7 or 6/7 every week, when I take a peek at the end of the season).
Don't care about running other characters except for Pathfinder, Wraith, Octane, Bangalore, Lifeline. No loadout changes based on challenges. I just wanna play. โ˜น๏ธ

@JonStriker126 I think all they really have to do is add a bonus for people that don't play all week, like a bonus star system or something.

Perhaps if they let you keep dailies that you had started but hadn't managed to complete then this would help those more casual players later down the line.

All in all the system itself is not that different from the last one, but I like that the dailies feel more rewarding. I didn't bother with them last season but this season I am really enjoying getting them done! I'm sure they'll roll something out soon that fixes these problem for everyone, it just takes patience ๐Ÿ™‚
