Re: Improving the respawn system would reduce leavers

Hmmm, I think respawning is fine now, with the addition of the beacons. It's ok for the process to be long, because that's what makes nearby teams feel that they can get there in time for the third party. Shortening that duration could probably alter the risk-reward factor too abruptly after a certain point.

By the very nature of battle royale is that death is supposed to be unforgiving.

More respawn opportunities makes the permanent kill less sweet for the victor. Then turns it into a deathmatch with everyone just running in blindly confident of second hand of life. Randoms do that enough already.

What I've learnt is that even if using respawn beacon or mobile beacon.... randoms don't want to bother building up their gear again and just leave. If they're not spawned near their own deathbox or deathboxes full of loot they don't want to start agauin is biggest factor.

Any battle royale team game going to have sudden leavers.

@PeterN_UK I get that, but the leaving problem in Apex is huge. If your teammate gets eliminated the odds that they wait for a respawn are slim. I'm trying to suggest ways to trim down on the leaver problem.

It's not bad in ranked but it's horrible in PUBS. If Solo queue you can not allow your teammates to go down. If they do they won't wait around to be respawned.

@DarthValtrex not to crap on your parade, but putting in a solos mode would reduce leavers. Unfortunately we both know that Respawn won't do it, despite it being the clearest and simplest way to combat an easily dealt with problem while also simultaneously giving a significant portion of the community what they want.

Best way to give confidence to randoms to minimise leavers is giving them reassurance.

    - Ping mobile beacon before picking up and voice chat squad you are keeping it in bag.

    - If squad mate dies then give voice chat reassurance coming to get them "I'm coming for you" or "I've got spawn beacon"

    - If you feel situation requires it i.e. near lobby win situation or battle that needs 3 people armed to survive at all, explain that you will give them one of your weapons and ammo.

How generous you want to be is determined by their behaviour in events leading up to their death in movement, loot sharing and verbal communication if they are good sportsmanship or someone not worth it.

I am sure PC players could bind a key to macro text chat above to players.

Once I got caught in ring after respawning a team mate dropped me gold body shield and health to survive to let me do fast heal and give back armor once out of the ring. I would imagine most randoms would of kept it. Smart play!
