My eccentric personal opinion on the Jumpmaster mechanic is that it is, like many things in this game, a crutch for lower skill players, new players, and sheep who need to be herded. I don't rely on it to keep the team together when I'm JM, and it mostly doesn't. And I know it won't keep the team together when somebody else is JM because they NEVER choose a drop I'm willing to go along with. Being that independent in a team-based game is not for everyone, but I can say that it's made me a very cautious player, a positioning genius, and very, very hard to kill. I don't end up shooting a lot, and that would be a deal-breaker for most people, but the shooting was never, imo, this game's best feature, and it isn't the thing that keeps me re-queueing. Food for thought.
