Re: Lets talk about that Spitfire nerf

@Daze623 I think it is ok. At least it is a real nerf unlike the bow.

  • Has there been another one? Cause I barely noticed a difference from last season

  • @hayhor I haven't really had much issues with the bow(or maybe I do I just didn't notice it cause I didn't know I was getting hit by it lol) but the spitfire I had the most issue is that it's also so good at CQC cause of the hipfire mobility + ammo count.

@MandatoryIDtag The damage nerf did hurt the gun a bit. It used to have a potential damage of 1045 but now it's down to 900.
  • Ah yeah....it can only kill 4 players per clip when used accurately now.

    Game changer. XD

Can honestly say I hate the spitfire more than the bow.

@MandatoryIDtag to be fair it is a suppressing fire weapon so if you don't respect it you should get killed. Plus if you're that good at tracking and recoil control I'm sure you'll be more dangerous running r301 than a Spitfire.
  • @Daze623  Oh i'm not sayings it's unbeatable  it's just a weapon I find really aggravating to fight against especially with the sheer amount of people using them. Nothing scarier than 3 spitfires raining hell on you simultaneously lol.  😛

As multiple threads pop up about this, I'll copy/paste until one thread takes over:

Yes, guns which don't do damage, so people who are losing gun fights can feel, somehow, that they aren't losing because it takes longer to kill them.  Super funtime.

I don't really care about the Spitfire nerf because always and forever, this game will have an OP gun...especially as all guns are nerfed.  The less damage guns do overall, the harder and harder it is to balance the weapons.  Respawn is doing it to themselves.

  • @hayhor I think the bow's nerf is sufficient, it now hits for 60 rather than 70.

The only thing I would have changed is the rate of fire. But lowering the amount of ammo is huge.

You can't have a bow hitting for 40 damage, it would make it pointless, but its a new weapon so I'm sure by the time they have sussed everything out it will be in a much better place.

I've stopped picking it up since the nerf to it, much prefer the longbow.
  • @Koochi-Q Yeah, I think if the bow was spawned less it wouldn't have been an issue but literally every single person had one.

@Daze623 I don't think they would have nerfed it if the Stats did not show it as being OP. Whether or not the nerf goes to far I don't know, I was not a huge Spitfire player.

It was a very difficult gun to deal with. I ran the 99 almost exclusively last season and I would have to 1 clip every single spitfire player I bumped into. The never ending magazine and damage buff they gave it last season simply gave you no time to reload a second magazine for a 99. When I would run the spitfire I could put more effort into movement and not worry about missing a few bullets. That meant 99 players had a very hard time 1 clipping me. So I can see why they would adjust it, if it needs a buff perhaps a .25-.50 buff to the damage?!

@DarthValtrex That's exactly my experience with the gun when going againt it. That's why I propose they implement a movement penalty even when hip firing so that it's CQC powers get reduced a lot.

@Daze623 I could see that as working out rather well. I understand why they buffed it, but the way other guns work it was just OP.

The only time I'd survive vs spitfire players and not 1 clipping was if I had cover and I could do peak-a-clip. But even in those situations it was really sketchy.

What I really liked about it, it gave my in game friends who are not good with single fire weapons an option for midrange. They would not post gody numbers but they could be engaged and helping as I sniped/midranged the enemy, maybe even get a kill or two on people I cracked with the Sentinel. In that sense it was really working well as a LMG and suppressive fire weapon. Most mid-long range weapons are fairly difficult to get decent with. Spitfire gave something they could spam bullets at the enemy with until they got some hit markers.

Spitfire is what I used to get my nephew excited about Apex, he could have success with it to some degree and even just a little success got that confidence going. It was not the never ending frustration of the 99 and dumping the entire magazine into a wall in .5 seconds.

I would not mind seeing it get some work as it stands out as the best noob tier weapon in game. Big magazine and manageable recoil. Noobs can win some fights with it and have some success without needing the recoil control and precision required for the 99. 301 and flatline are the next tier weapons for building skill, then the volt/99.

  • @hayhorThat doesn’t sound too bad to me even without knowing the amount. Anything over 30 a slot is much.

@rockyboy1998 It’s Apex the lost Wilds. Everyone needs a bow xD

  • I've barely noticed any difference, but then I am pretty damned accurate with it with excellent recoil control (I remember the days when I couldn't control it at all).

The 55 > 50 reduction seemed pretty pointless. If you can't kill an enemy with 50 bullets you need to get some training in. I also only ever pick balaced fights (1v1, 2v2 etc, I'm not a 1v3 guy). Being a Fuse main if a fight looks like it's going to be unbalanced I chuck nades and the knucklecluster in first which usually splits the enemy squad.

I don't go hunting for Spitfires as I can hit well now with all weapons (even ones I used to be poop with, like the Wingman and G7), but if I find one I do tend to favour them.

I've played Spitfire regularly since s2, so I'm used to it, for me the nerfs don't change anything. Give me a 2x and I can still do okay damage to you at mid-range. Of course, I get countered if the opponent has a sniper, marksman, or is good with like the anvil or Wingman, so... I still don't see the problem regarding the Spitfire. Most Spitfire players I play against do less dmg to me than I do to them mid-range, so I kinda love the Spitfire meta. 😂
