Re: Non-ranked Game Abandonment Penalties..why not?

@pastaclownthe point is people are playing a squad game. If you cannot handle being downed and just waiting a few minutes to see if your squad makes it, you should not be queueing. Lack of solo mode is not an excuse for lack of fortitude. Anyone that instantly leaves on down is zero percent chance of being a decent player of any kind. It's just general lack of respect and consideration for others. There needs to be some kind of negative impact to these people that are ruining the quality and enjoyment of the game.

  • @Vytasa lack of respect and consideration for others is EXACTLY why we need a solos mode, and why they should hold off on pushing squad leavers until then IMO. From someone who's played since Week 1, I've seen every kind of teammate possible and I desperately want to have a mode where I don't have to deal with them. I don't even leave every game, I stick out 90% of the games I play, the last 10% are the times where I've finished my objectives / have been abandoned by teammates.

Like I get why you want the penalty, but it doesn't solve the core of the leavers problem, which is what solos mode would most likely do. Give those idiots who can't deal more than 200 damage, die then leave their own mode, and I bet your quality of match and mine will undoubtedly increase. Then you can punish people for leaving squads.

Edit: I wanna harp on "lack of respect and consideration for others" cause good GOD this is the first BR I've ever played and the people I frequently get are just god awful. I finished the BP so I'll really only play an hour or two every so often, but almost every match it's always the same repeating behaviors.

That guy who's drunk / high and thinks it's fine to play Apex, that Wraith player who's a loot ninja but can't hit a shot, those dudes who do nothing but screech into the mic about how bad YOU are but at the summary screen you've beat them in every aspect, those people that don't communicate at all no pings no chat no voice but then they die and wonder why you're not with them, those people who queue for a match and go AFK, those people who queue for a match go AFK throughout drop but come back just in time to loot the area you were already looting, those people who loot your death box before respawning you, those people who don't contribute to kills but ninja loot the best gear and then go down, those dudes who don't play to even win (AKA the people who don't even bother trying at all, not even talking about playing their best), those Octane players who pop Q on loot vaults and take everything inside, those guys who pass you jump master but get upset at you when they die cause they have no loot, etc. etc. Like, what is wrong with people?

@pastaclown League of legends doesn't tolerate toxic players. Neither should EA and the devs of the best BR game out there by far. Lack of conviction and balls is the root of the problem.
  • @Vytasa different principles at work, League of Legends is not designed to be played solo. A contract is created from the get go that says you will honor your time as well as everyone else's by playing your best, not trolling, and not leaving the game prematurely that you willingly sign in order to play League, on top of that, it also tells you how long an average match is for League based on the modes you play. Which is why they punish you for leaving prematurely, and being toxic.

Apex Legends has already had a solo mode implemented for a limited time, not only did it work just as well as squads, the player turnout was extremely high and quite well received DESPITE the predatory lootbox pricing. Solos worked, and people were pretty happy with it. Say what you will, but punishing players without giving them different options on how to enjoy the game is a great way to alienate more of the already declining player-base.

@BaldWraithSimp there's nothing wrong with it inherently IF there was a solos mode. You're free to enjoy the game however you want, but if you're high and you can't play it's inconsiderate to your teammates IF they're playing seriously. If not then it's not hurting anyone.

  • @pastaclown I stick with my team no matter if I am high or not and play the same way(even better) when I am normal. I take it that you have come across some toxic/stupid drunk/high people.

@BaldWraithSimp oh believe me, I've come across a TON of really unsavory characters. As I said before, solos would allow me to skip all that nonsense.
