Both playstyles are valid. The main problem is people that don't play as a team.

There's no way for the game to detect whether the players have made smart or stupid decisions. There are a lot of situations when it's best to avoid conflict and a lot of others when pushing with all guns blazing is the most efficient thing to do. 

Also, without demotion, there would be much more smurfing going on, bronze and silver would be hell. On the other hand, a harsh demotion could make low tiers pretty sweaty.

@DarthValtrex  9/10 times it's the other way around for me, I'm in plat now and these players should be in Diamond or Master instead of Plat and plays like a lunatic.

If they reduce the RP substantially, it defeats the purpose of legends like wattson and caustic, or rampart. Me and my friends also camp in certain situations because there's no point fighting masters & preds in a Plat lobby. You'll get wrecked that quick and lose RP.

I'd rather to see respawn implement that preds and masters don't get a rank reset below diamond or even below master, because the skill gap between diamonds and masters is way too big, let alone predators. And if they don't play ranked for a whole season, then it resets to bronze IV in the next season.

Or at least have 5 or 10 rank placement matches at the beginning of the season/split.

@DoYaSeeMe Smurfing is a huge problem anyway and it wouldn't be much more negative than them intentionally staying in lower ranks as they do currently or getting to bronze the following season. Also a diamond+ will blitz through bronze and silver ranks in less than a day pretty easily.

I never used to agree with demotion but now i think you'll slowly and consistently climb regardless and with the way they now have this rank protection so you don't get stuck in a rank you're either forced to improve or can't compete at ie D3 being the old D4 then i think we should have it.

@bosourd Masters and preds are exactly the same as they're playing in the same lobbies gaining RP from D3+. It's based on time played more than anything else at that point. Also the skill of one player in diamond isn't THAT much different from a pred mechanically or individually, it's game sense and how well they coordinate with a team to climb higher.

@DarthValtrex Perhaps I have an unusual way of thinking but wouldn't allowing tier demotion increase camping? If I'm Plat 4 and I really don't want to drop down to gold I won't take any risks. I'll hug the sides of the map until I place decently just to avoid tier demotion.

I don't particularly care about rank so I'll dive any fight that I see but I'd camp more if I cared about ranking down.

I'm more in favor of rewarding talented players and boosting them up quickly. Separate the skilled from the weak.

Respawns super happy with their heavily flawed rank system, we're all just being whiny freeloaders as usual. ;p

@bosourdI think right now you're probably right. But give it another 5-6 days and the campers start creeping their way into Platinum. Once they reach platinum it becomes nearly impossible to gain RP.

I'm not talking about the people who are 2vs3 the entire match and need to camp.. More so the people who simply do not have the skill for the top lobbies. First unavoidable fight they get into they get downed and they struggle to break even 200 damage... It makes grinding ranked with randoms in the higher tier lobbies nearly impossible.

The point of it is to encourage people to 'stay' because feeding them easy kills for a few days makes people think they're * awesome, when instead it's just * matchmaking.

Sucks if you legit play at that level lawl enjoy the instagibs
